I called it early on and was mocked. Not mentioning names but I'll throw initials out there; LMF /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Yup, you nailed this one. I just though as a 5 year player he was ready to move on. Yes a lot of players leave too early but then there are those who seem to make a career out of college basketball.
Maybe he came to realization that he ain't getting a sniff overseas either. A 6' guard with a weak handle and at times ugly jump shot is not in high demand. Hope he can find a niche at the lower D1 level where his skills belong. Good luck to him and thanks for his contribution the last 2 years.

Like I told the 114 guys yesterday we got more guys using the portal than Star Trek

I'm hearing Ralph is trying to enter the portal.  He wants out of section 114.

I know it's pure transfer madness, but now Dunn entering the portal does make me wonder about how our guys felt about CMA.  Hopefully this is just an aberration.
Is this the way people are taking it? I thought the portal was just a formality we were all waiting on. It sounded to me like he was being pushed out before the season even ended, judging by CMA's comment on whether Dunn would be back.
In my opinion, Dunn owes much gratitude to Coach Anderson. He gave him the opportunity to play Big East level basketball for 2 years and a ton of minutes to boot, many more than I would have given him. A number of times in the pre-Posh era, I thought our best stretches where when Rutherford, who had a tighter handle and more size on defensive end of the court, was running the team.

Lol. Why would Dunn come back here? We have 2 guards on the roster already that would start over him and whoever Anderson brings in from the portal would probably play in front of him too.

More than 1000 players in the portal and 8 of them are ours. All y’all gotta relax. It’s insane how some of you are reacting. Insane. The damn season isn’t even over yet. These guys just entered the portal THIS WEEK. How fast do you expect these guys to recruit? I won’t even mention the fact the best player to transfer is Williams. Who is a nice player but...really? Most of these guys are fringe players for us, let alone a winning program.

I agree about Dunn, but the rest of my statement is still true. I hadn't really commented on all of the other transfers until now. Not a good look to be getting negative press like this. That said, if we offset the losses with some big names then people will forget.

I wish I could press the Thank You button 5 times for this post, but I am also going to warn you that you are probably going to get slammed for having this take right now..lol

So maybe wait until we fill those holes until the negativity?

Nah, I'll vent a tiny bit if I want to. Sorry I'm not filtering enough for you, but this is a discussion board and it's valid to be at least slightly concerned about leading the nation in transfers.

Dunn is an interesting one. I thought he might change his mind but assumed, if this were the case, he would come back to SJ since he was given great opportunity by CMA. And, perhaps he wanted to but was told that his role would be diminished.

The timing is particularly interesting given his recent response to the “jealousy” rumors.

How bout you and Bill worry about yourself and stop telling people to relax when the team is going to shit? If we pick up some better players I'll relax. Till then I'll be as f''in pissed and vent as f'in much as I feel like it.

Lol, I can take it. I joined the site when they finally allowed registration in 2008, so I’m so used to people bellyaching about anything on this site that I usually just keep my opinions to myself and only post in the game threads. I couldn’t take the crying anymore. Someone actually compared this to the Pittsburgh situation yesterday. Really? I guess some of these people just became fans recently. This is more like a troublesome Thursday to me than any kind of catastrophe.

Some of you guys are viscous.  Dunn was an enormous part of our success over the last two years.  He was one of our most valuable players.  Every time we lose a kid, several posters feel the need to minimize or trash him.  Dunn was a warrior and he will easily find a spot on a high-level team if he so chooses.

Personal rant. The main reason I preferred college hoops over the NBA was the pride for playing for the name/institution on the jersey. I am extremely saddened that theory is now in the toilet.

In all fairness, most of the team is in the portal and our best players is testing the waters. You can label these kids "fringe players," but our bench and interchangeable parts is what made us effective.   I don't have the stats, but I'd venture to say that  90 percent of our scoring from last year is either transferring or considering the NBA.  I'm trying to stay levelheaded, but I think it's fair to be concerned.  I mean look what everybody was saying about Pitt a few weeks ago.  I think we must have more transfers than them now.

My sentiments exactly. Either the NCAA and student athletes rediscover a way to make a college commitment meaningful or it's over. Might as well just have the semi-pro development leagues take over for the 18-25 year olds.

I agree with the NCAA vs NBA take. From a young age I always preferred the NCAA for that reason.

After seeing 75% of our team transfer, I'm also doubting why the team bailed on the NIT this year (COVID I don't believe was the real reason). Kind of makes the hobby of watching less enjoyable when fans seemingly care more about a postseason than the players. The players also would've benefitted by being on ESPN, so the decision really was baffling.

Mix that in with drama, such as Zach's quote about jealously (ridiculous whoever those players were), and my interest has gone down some in the team and the sport in general.

See now...this I agree with completely. I already hate the NBA. I hope this is only a one-year thing because if it’s not, I can see myself checking out. I’ve been a Johnnies fan since I was 8 and it’s exactly for the reason you mentioned. The name on the front and the “team-orientated” nature of college basketball.

The negative press is coming from the board. I have not seen one journalist targeting us for a problem that everyone is having.

Haven't you been trashing Cole since day one?
