Thaddeus Hall, SG - SOUTH CAROLINA

South Carolina done deal
Good luck to him, he will do well there I think.

Not good to lose a NYC recruit to a coach on the job one week at USC!

Really 72?
Frank Martin loves NYC kids and has done well getting them.
Mr. PSAL would not like being 12th man on depth chart. Wouldn't see PT next year for certain. Its not a big loss. Timing just didn't work out. Hope he qualifies and hope he does well done there. Our involvement I'm sure helped drive some interest for him.

12th man?
We've only got 8 guys on the entire team, and I'd put him ahead of Balamou.
No way at all to spin this positively.

C'mon moose, you know perfectly well what I mean.
As if right now, today, present tine, we have 8 players on this team.

Harrison
Sampson
Incoming Center
Branch
Incoming Forward
Greene
Garrett
Pointer
Gift
Balamou
Incoming Shooter (who wouldn't mind less than 40mpg)
Hall

That's 12 to me. I'd rather him not come here at all then come here, never see the court and transfer. Wouldn't look good have city kids come here and leave unhappy. This isn't spinning anything. Its called facts. And don't kid yourself that the fact we were mentioned so much with him didn't help his cause of getting other schools involved.

And do you think we are going into the season with 8 players?
The only player who you could argue depth chart based on Hall would be whatever shooter we bring in. The incoming center or forward do nothing to Hall. Hall would not play over any of the current guards/SF's and as I stand by he would not be happy waving a towel on the bench.

Oh and can we not forget the academic risk. I hope he makes it but we have other posters sweating out Jakarr still. We don't need another player like that right now. Call me the spinmaster in this case but its the truth.

Stop making sense, Moose. Hall seems to be a solid player, but he wouldn't leapfrog any of our current players and get significant minutes. He wants significant minutes and he'll get significant minutes at South Carolina. Not to mention (as, stated earlier), he was a first priority for the Gamecocks. He wasn't one with St. John's.

Some of you also forget he is an academic risk. He's a good story, as stated by Happy, and I would've liked to have him on our squad. It's obvious (and true) he wasn't particularly at the forefront of the staff plans. I hope he makes the grade and becomes eligible his freshmen season. But, if he had signed with us and ended up being ineligible, then some of you would have a hissy fit.

Some of you can't have it both ways.

if he wasn't a priority, why did Lavin offer?

The offer was extended out of legitimate interest.. At this level however there is a way to back out of a offer without actually pulling it.

More people are offered than actually take offers. And offers have conditions like eligibility as well. Maybe we said show us the test score and we'd love to have you? Also sometimes an offer is a wink wink handshake you can mention our name offer. I'm not saying that happened just trying to make sense of this. We offered Meikle, and Mike Perez also. In fact took one of them. Doesn't mean they are priority.

I'm really amazed at how some of you are reacting to this. But then again I'm not surprised because for a long time our fan base has left me scratching my head.

Hall's academic issues were a real concern but playing for Frank Martin may pale in comparison. Hopefully the kid gets the love he was promised. He would have been a good 6th man at SJ but time will tell if he is a freshman starter.

6th man?
Wouldnt see that till maybe Jr year here.
Martin loves NYC guys, some pay off (Kelly, Henriquez) some don't (Southwell). We will see. I wish Thad nothing but the best there.

I fixed your post.

Ha I knew I forgot one.

Why is this anything more than we offered a recruit, he had other offers and he took one of the other offers? This happens all the time.

I was really hoping we'd land Thaddeus Hall. Like it has been previously stated — great story. New York kid.

However, I can't blame him for opting for South Carolina and the promise of more playing time. At St John's, he would be competing for minutes with Sir'Dom, Amir, Balamou, and D'Angelo.

Sounds like the gamecocks have no one.

The big man from South Kent and former K-State commit, who's name I can't spell is also following Frank Martin to SC

I heard someone mention this earlier today.... Laimonas Chatkevicius.

Yeah
He's crazy on the court too. Jakarr and Mitch had many a jawing session with him

This isn't St. John's news, but congrats as he'll be eligible as a freshmen. He'll have a homecoming buttwhuppin' in November. LOL

Yeah, matching up against D'Angelo Harrison is not a good way to kick the season off for most.

Where are the apologies from those posters who ripped him apart academically, flat out insinuating he would never qualify.
