Syracuse

NEVER EVER play them again.
NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea. I would rather see us play a school like Dayton, home and away. Good team, very good coach, solid history/tradition, and a fan base similar to Creighton's, with many in the NYC metro area.
Syracuse should be shunned.

Yes but this is a business. The school rents the garden and makes money by having butts in the seat.

Su SJU is still a nice rivalry. Now that the playing field is getting even , we may start beating them more. Nothing is sweeter than beating them and shutting up their cocky, loud mouth fans.[/quote

It should be interesting to see how much longer Boeheim is around and what happens then.

NC State fans chanting "YMCA" by V. People. Funny.

As for the rivalry...I say ignore Cuse forever. Nothing would be more pleasurable than never playing this team again and let them become perennial bottom feeders in the ACC. It's shameful how this "university" stands by this guy.

And as the ACC takes more beatings like this in the press (even if I think it won't have much of an impact on the overall picture), I'm glad that the new Big East has been devoid of such drama thus far, and hopefully keeps it that way. I love the basketball, and would love it to be superior on and off the court compared to the power conferences.

JB got to keep his championship of course too, and I'm not so positive an appeal will be pointless, for the NCAA is just about as ridiculous as it gets these days. As others mentioned, they'll be rendered useless by the power 5 whenever they decide to make that decision.

Enjoy the game today y'alls.

peace.

As St. John's faded in the rear view mirror of big time college basketball over the past 20 years, Syracuse roared.

As our program struggled to find the right coach that would deliver sustained success, consider that 4 of the 5 post-Carnesecca delivered at least one NCAA bid.

But over the course of those 20+ years we've been mostly thrashed by Syracuse, who maintained excellence year in year out. We lamented and envied their success, and complain on here why SJU cannot be one of those elite programs.

With the Syracuse revelations, we got one answer why some programs continually excel and some don't. Coaching genius, and an elite program that attracts blue chip recruits are one reason. Cheating is another. UNC and now Syracuse and many others are guilty. Shake Calipari's tree hard enough and he will fall too.

I hate getting so wrapped up in outcomes of games and seasons when we are competing against a ton of cheaters.

I think I will convene a mod summit in Camp David in order to see if we can have this post pinned to the top.

This thread is the only place all redmen.comers join together in harmony and enjoy the equivalent of a big Thanksgiving Day feast.

Paul needs to have is RH (Red House) work out the logistics of course.

You are reducing it too much to think it is just coaching. Syracuse draws over 20,000 fans a game. We could win five national championships in a row and not average 15,000. Syracuse would be very good if Boeheim never stepped a foot on that campus--maybe not as good, but better than us.

Don't know if I agree with that. While I've heard there is nothing to do in Syracuse and this could be a contributing factor, all they have known the last 30 years is winning. They would need a few down years to determine if fans would continue spending money to see orange.
As far as we go, I have found NY metro area fans to be front runners (NY Ranger fans are the exception, and I'm not a hockey fan). If we're ever very good over a sustained period of time, people will jump on the bandwagon with their wallets.

My favorite part of the article, courtesy of assistant coach and fanboy Mike Hopkins:

“Coach is a warrior. He’s a superhero. Superhero.”

This long-distance dedication is going out to you guys!

Players who failed drug tests continued to play.
A $300,000.00 slush Fund for 1 season.
Players having papers written for them.
Players screwing the assistant coach's wife.
Minor boys in a bed with the assistant coach on the teams road trip which was seen by the head coach.
Could it truly be any worse ?
Personally I feel they got off very lightly.

The guy should disappear for two months and return to announce his retirement. If not, this will only get worse for him.

To hear Vitale defending JB as a victim, who trusted folks & was betrayed, turned my stomach. It is time for him to move on as well.

that was a Thank You with an exclamation point! maybe in his dotage he was confusing Boeheim with his other buddy, Bill Cosby.

Has Vitale ever criticized a coach? He's one of the people most guilty for putting these guys on a pedestal.

Someone gave Abe Keita 50 bucks and it destroyed our program. Some justice.
