Syracuse Game

Anyone know what the line is (or will be)? I totally expect Syracuse to be favored, but curious to see by how much according to the so called "experts".

I have tickets I bought through SJU box office in 224. Pretty good seats paid $45 a ticket (including fee). I do have student id so i am going to get to msg early and see what is left with student id for $15. If I get something significantly better I am going to look to get rid of the seats I have so if anyone is planning on going tomorrow and trying to find tickets PM me and I could let you know tomorrow if I have mine available. Either way, very excited for tomorrow and if I don't find better I will be in 224 rocking the red.

Cuse is not as good as their #2 ranking. They will take their lumps in conference play. I'd be very surprised if they manage a 2-seed.

This is a very winnable game...... IF what we saw against fordham was the team (and coaching staff) turning a corner and finally figuring it out and not just a blip.
I can now see Whitesells influence taking hold and Lavin seems to have finally realized what posters here have been saying for two years now, that these guys should run and attack in an up tempo style.

As has been posted the Cuse isn't as good as last year. However, their zone isn't your typical zone defense, that is my main concern for Sunday. It's obvious we have to stop Fair and Grant. The latter doesn't start but is a super talent. Usually, they start Coleman, Christmas , Fair, Cooney and Ennis. Getting in Cooney's jockstrap and preventing open 3 pointers should stop an important part of their offense. Of course, I expect a pressing man defense.
Their bench is lacking a Southerland who was just released by his NBA team. Hopefully we don't give Coleman, Christmas and Keita easy putbacks, got to rebound on the defensive boards. None of these big men are shooters.
Let's beat them up court before they can set up their zone. I always like our chances in Madison Garden, always have and always will.
Go Redmen!

Key for us going forward is sharing the ball and having everyone involved..that is what makes us tough...if we revert to the Harrison/Greene shot fest, we struggle or get waxed

Some fun filed St. John's-Syracuse facts:

Fact: We never lost a Big East Championship game to Syracuse, the only meeting was in 1986 when "The Truth" swatted away Pearl's mad dash.

Fact: In 13 seasons of Big East play, Lou Carnesecca beat Syracuse in 8 of those 13 seasons, including sweeping the Orangemen 3 times (1982, 1983, and 1985)

Fact: St. John's posted its 1600th program victory against Syracuse when we beat them in 2000.

Fact: St. John's has won more "National Championships" than Syracuse. While Syracuse loves to brag about their 1918 and 1926 Helms Foundation National Titles, what they forget is that during the 40s, 50s and arguably the early 60s, the NIT was the National Championship, not the NCAA and that we have our own Helms Foundation Title. So by my count, it's 4 National Titles for St. John's (1911, 1943, 1944, 1959) and 3 for Syracuse (1918, 1926, and 2003). I think you can even add our 1965 Title but that one is more debatable.

Fact: Every coach at St. John's since Carnesecca has beaten Syracuse, Mahoney in 93 (which was a sweep) and in 95, Fraschilla in 97 and 98, Jarvis in 1999 & 2000, and Norm Roberts in 2007. Now its your turn Coach Lavin, let's do it.

Let's Go St. John's
Let's Go Redmen

Another fun fact: Legendary Coach Boeheim has on ly one more national championship than Norm Roberts. :-D

(Of course, Lavin is tied with Norm, but why nitpick)

It depends what team shows up. If we play like we did against Fordham, we will give them a spanking.

Most hyped game since Gonzaga 2010-11 NCAAs

..... make that hyped by St.John's fans.
All Syracuse fans which I know see it as just another game.

Hopefully St.John's surprises and walks away with a win.

It may not meam much to the younger fans but it still means something to those who remember when there was a rivalry. It also means something the the people who are marketing them as NY's Team.
