Boeheim on games vs. St. John’s & others: “(They) really lose their value, their attractiveness, when you’re not in the same league."

So go play someone else then.
No tears here.

Not sure why he'd say something like that anyway? There's a lot of history and nostalgia in the matchups with former Big East teams like SJU vs Cuse, Georgetown etc. in addition, there is a lot of interest in NYC for the game. The house will basically be packed. It will be a battle for Ny etc. I'm scratching my head as to why he doesn't think there's is value or attractiveness to this game just because we are in different leagues now? Guy is an imbecile. Maybe we shouldn't schedule them any more. One less MSG game for them.

He views playing us the same way we view playing Fordham. A now out of conference game that should be an easy win for them, but also means absolutely nothing to their regular season.

I agree with you Jumbo. Boeheim views this as a game where he has nothing to gain by winning. He can only lose if his team doesn't prevail.

He said these games lose value because they are no longer intra-conference games, not that they don't have any value. Relax guys.

Big Jim might be a tool, but he's been coaching in the BE for 36 years, he knows what it means to play rivals, and to play at MSG.

Agreed, also, it is nothing but coach speak which should always be taken with a pound of salt but seems never is whether an opponent or Lavin.

I am hoping for a close game.
I am wishing for the big upset and the resulting top 25 ranking.
I am expecting the usual 20 point loss.
But hope springs eternal!

He's a proven recruiter. Maybe it's his way of telling kids St.J is meaningless.

True, that's possible.

As you do, I hope you are wrong. While our play has been much better in the last 3 halves we still need to improve our defensive rotations (Fordham missed a fair amount of wide open 3's) and defensive rebounding and fighting for 50/50 balls (a lot of second shots and extra possessions for Fordham.) If we continue to run the offense through the high post we should maintain the excellent offensive flow....we shall see if the improved play continues improving. We can hate the Cuse all we want but they are not Georgia Tech or Fordham.

@StJohnsBBall just posted a picture of the MSG court specs for Sunday. I find it pathetic that they are not chaining the the knicks orange to red on the "paint" area of the court.

I'm more interested in what's going on on the floor

I get that but I would prefer not there to be any orange colors on the court. I don't want to give these idiots any talking points when its OUR home court.

I don't think they ever have.

I think this is the game a lot of the Hooper fans have been waiting for. Everyone points to the Cuse zone as the reason we needed to get him going. Will be interesting to see how much burn he gets this weekend.

Yup his Zone Busting skills will be in demand against their 2-3.
Any Idea What 5 Lavin is going with for this game? Im thinking:
Sheed Jordan
Phill G
D'angelo
Sanchez
Chris. Obekpa

He's not gonna take Sampson out of the lineup. My guess is same as Fordham.

I can't be too mad at that. Worked out pretty well for us last week.

I hope he goes with the Fordham lineup, but with Branch instead of Phil. I think Jamal has earned the starting job.

But I think Orlando plays big minutes, just won't be on the court with Jakarr AND Chris O at the same time.

I also think Branch should start in the big picture, but this is one game where Phil's skillset could really be highlighted. He doesn't turn the ball over (and Cuse forces a ton of turnovers) and is a better 3PT shooter than Branch, at least in terms of being able to get on a streak.
