St. Thomas Aquinas

The sky is falling. The sky is falling.
Let's calm down. It's a long season. Things will get better.

BTW Fred Hoiberg "The Mayor" went 3-13 in conference his first year and he was universally loved in Iowa and he was closer as a player to Terrence Mullin than Chris. Yet people here questioning Mullin after one game.....

I guess this year I will finally get to feel what it was like to be a "Normie".
Well if Norm had been the greatest basketball player in school history, 2 time Olympian gold medalist, BE player of the year, All American, NBA all star, NBA Hall of Famer and you know not incompetent but still.

The reaction to the first exhibition game put anything said about Roberts to shame. Not sure what the expectations were but they certainly weren't realistic. I was disappointed by the result because I HOPED for better but not incredibly surprised, especially when Lovett wasn't able to play. I mean Alibegovic was the player who logged the most D1 minutes last year, we had no point guard against a team with some athletes, some experience, and real motivation to whoop ass. Again not sure what people expected but I guess we leave it that Mullin sucks, he went into brain freeze and no recruit is going to come here. However, I would respectfully submit that the players we are recruiting are a little bit more intelligent than the Mensa members on this board give them credit for. As for Mullin, he and staff will be fine.

@CDiSano44: Will have an insider breakdown of this first taste of the 2015-16 URI Rams for @CoxHub soon. Final here: Rams 100, Aquinas 77.

Former SJU/Lavin recruit Nicola Akele had 60 points for Rhody :)

Rhode Island is the Villanova/Georgetown (depending on who you listen to) of the A -10 this year. So not a big surprise...

Of course not

The surprise isn't RI beating Aquinas by 22. It's SJU loosing by 30.

Fred played 10 years in the NBA so no.

I miss Lavin.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're being sarcastic.

Well, yes, there was an element of sarcasm in there. Perhaps also some gentle mocking of some of the posts on this thread. Toss in a pinch of realism.

But mostly, regret that after a bad loss my (rightfully) favorite culprit isn't around to blame. After all, criticizing this Mullin fellow would be like badmouthing the Pope in St Patricks, or something like that.

And to avoid any confusion, I wouldn't have criticized him for the STAC loss anyway. It's early, it's going to be a long season, and what people should be looking for is improvement as it goes on more than anything else.

The good news is that things could only improve from the STAC game! Way to set the bar low!
