St. Mary's Game Thread

Play many halves like the first one after LB St and Tulane and what the team is ranked will be moot.

I can only imagine how many people here declared this game over at (or before) halftime. Great win for these kids.
I was one of those Guinness! Great second half!

I was one also Guinness. I'm elated to say that I was very wrong. Unbelievable response by this team in the second half!! Congratulations to the team and the staff. Good coaching move by the staff to put Pointer on Waldow in the second half and have CO and JDR slide over as second man in on defense off the weak side. Very good ball movement in the second half and great defense. Excellent win for these kids!! I will not doubt them anymore this season.

That's a big comeback and a big win. Another great moment for these guys. After three long seasons, I hope they have many more this year...

Watching basketball for many many years you may be surprised by this but this is what ranked teams do over and over. They find a way and that is why they are ranked. This half time score went out on the wires and non experts all over are starting to think upset but real good teams prevail.. We are starting to see that in this team. Tough shooting game for Greene and that set the tone early. Hope this one is out of their system.

I'm happy to see a trap game against a team that really wanted it, when we can't shoot, pass, or hit a free throw, and still end up with a win. This is one of the games that fans need to exhale and enjoy because we lose this game each of the last three years. Instead we survive, don't diminish the conference, and have yet another game where we expect to win-don't panic-and still win.

What a hard-fought, nail-biter, edge-of-your-seat, gutsy, never-quit, come from behind battle and win.

They gave us a scare for sure. Give our guys credit for the fight and Lavin props as well.

What doesn’t kill you, etc. and this will bring the young men even closer as a unit.

Joey DLR with some important minutes and elbows.

Seemed like Waldo was getting emotional there at the end…

What came back to me was an early Big East game at Seton Hall when the Hall was up 20 or so points at the half. And SJU came back to win it by 10 or so points.

This was definitely a tale of two halves. I don't know what Lavin and the staff said to the guys at half-time, but whatever it was, it worked!

The mark of a good team is not letting a bad stretch of game, or even a half, get to you. And these guys showed resiliency tonight!

Can't wait to come back on Monday night!

carnesecca was an absolute morgue in the first half for a good reason but glad to see it full. a jekyll and hyde game. Good second half adjustment to limit waldo's game. credit to dom pointer.

Well, be assured that Seton Hall is drooling at the prospect of defeating a ranked SJU team at Barclay's ... and that they always play us tough.

I liked seeing Obepka hitting a couple of mid range jumpers. If he can do that with any type of consistency it would be great for us.

!

He said " Otis always says I'm going to make halftime adjustments " so let's not let him down

Good thing then that we play them at the Pru Center where they won't be expecting us :)

The Seton Hall game on New Years eve is at The Rock in Newark Redken. I work only two blocks from there. I'm going with three guys from work. Should be a good game.

I like seeing them go in and he has a nice stroke at about 8-10' but would much prefer to see those shots right under the hoop going in.

2 out of 3 from the baseline tonight, right?

Agree Paul, for some reason CO finishes weak at the rim.
