St. John's to Leave Nike?

Great move. Sucks being the Nike stepchild.

With the NYC marketing, it'll be great to see our jerseys, alternates and gear gain more exposure.

My question is are we getting a totally new design, should be interesting if we are.

Have you seen any cookie cutter UA designs?
I'll bet that the designs will be new. Hopefully not something over the top though.

What's the matter you don't like the camouflage look?

Well, this item on Paul Lukas's uni-watch.com is interesting:

"A little birdie tells me that St. John’s may (a) switch from Nike to Under Armour, (b) bring back blue, (c) go back to “SJU” instead of “STJ,” and (d) swap “Johnny Thunderbird” for a cartoon caricature of Lou Carnesecca with an “LC” on the chest."

(d)?????????????????????????

C- Wouldn't SJU have legal ramifications?
D- The letters LC would be cool but usually those things are only done to honor those who have passed away. Not those still alive.

Why stop there. Make it antire comic book series. Put capes on Carnesecca and Lapchick to mimic Superman and Batman for a Justice League look. The plot could be written around our superheroes trying to get back the corner of Union and Utopia from the evil clutches of Fraschilla Penguin -- his height makes him a good fit, Lex Luthor Jarvis -- the bald headed, evil genius seem a natural (hey he did manage to con this school into thinking he was a hard working coach), and Riddler Roberts -- his coaching decisions did make us all scratch our heads.

Brilliant AR. And it's good to see some DC guys still around. My son says it's all about Marvel with the kids these days.

I was never on big comics as a kid. My first and still favorite superhero is Spiderman (he was from Queens and was a Mets fan afterall). After that, I really didn't have a preference. I just enjoy them. And I would love to see a good Justice League movie. But DC based movies have been pretty bad for the most part. I am hoping the new Superman is good. DC has fallen so far behind Marvel, your son has the same opinion as mine does. Although he did want to be Green Lantern last Halloween. And my daughter was Wonder Woman.

I'd love for B to come true.

Personally, I dislike UA and love Nike. This sucks but I guess whatever is best for the program to move forward in branding, right?

Gonna try and find all the decent Nike gear possible (which isn't much) before it's all completely gone.

However, I DO like the switch back to SJU and getting rid of that piss poor bird.

So you like Nike but complain there isn't much gear available.

Hence the reason we elected to switch.

I realize that, guy. Doesn't change the fact that they are a better company. I DID say whatever is best for the program moving forward.

There are rumors that St. John's is completely rebranding the team. They are looking to update the color scheme, mascot, logo and more. And apparently we are going back to "SJU" and ditching the "STJ", which I thought wasn't possible because of St. Joseph's, but apparently we are. I heard that the new color scheme swaps black for blue. They hired a consulting team to assist throughout the entire process.

I guess I'm the only one who found this all in jest after (A)

I take that back. As for D half is right I'd like to think the 2nd part is a joke.

Agreed. My two favorite uniforms all-time are the late 90s/early 2000s that Artest/Barkley's teams wore and the mid-80s classics. Both had navy trim I believe. Our current jerseys would be up there if the black trim was substituted for navy.

DC movies have been pretty bad? As far as film making goes there are no Comic/Superhero movies that can hold a candle to the Dark Knight trilogy. Of course the rest of them from FF through the Greens and on and on you are right about including the last Superman. The Marvels have been better but their just popcorn movies, nothing substantial or lasting but great popcorn movies, I'll give them that. It'll be interesting to see this summers Superman as it's supposed to take a Dark Knight approach, with Chris Nolan producing.

PS I'm not even a comic book fan, my son is therefore I end up at every superhero movie pretty shortly after it comes out. Here comes Ironman 3, Conor said it was fantastic.
