St. John's/Gtown game thread

Lavin needs to take a page out of Roy Williams book and put in the walk ons to fire the squad up, or at least wake them up. This is just sad.

Are you kidding? he pulled Branch and Marco after a minute to put back in the guys that dug this hole.

Marco was doing absolutely nothing. Branch - the mystery continues

its a joke gerogetown can just foul us and they can not make the shots Try different roatations for G sake

My prediction of 3 big east wins sadly looking good

This game has AAU written all over it. Fundamental skills lacking and no priority given to importance of each possession.

I would love to know what goes on at our practices

Unfortunately, this looks as bad as anything from the Norm years. Having more talent and still looking awful hurts.

Dunk contest and layup lines.

This team has Zero offensive identity/philosophy/you name it. It's cool to recruit 1-2 athletes a year. But when 90% of your roster is comprised of athletes who have no defined skillset, this is the product you'll see.

Our halfcourt offense this game consists of set a pick and go one-on-one. Nothing is drawn up. Nothing.

I'd sure hate to be at the Garden today.

The free throw shooting on this team is infuriating

On Obekpa's last FT attempt, he literally got the ball from the ref, dribbled it once and then chucked it.

Announcer of the Rutgers game was dead on the money when he said fouling Obekpa is equivalent to a SJU turnover.

I don't what the "learning" is from this game for the coaches or the team.
What do learn when every aspect of basketball collapses halfway through the year?
When coach said he didn't way to make a big deal about the foul shooting because that would put even more pressure on them and make things worse, I was astounded.
Just how much worse can foul shooting get for athletes?
I think this team could use a little more display of coach irritation once in awhile and shooting a hundred foul shoots a day can't make us that mu h worse.

we have to recruit guys that know how to play basketball, not just be able to run and jump

Bingo.

I hate to say this because I'm a Lavin supporter, but at some point this gets hung on the staff. Kids are working hard and have some skills, but we look completely unprepared right now.

Marco's not doing anything? He played about 5 seconds. Other then Obepka blocking shots the whole team is an embarassing mess. Just for fun lets try Branch at PG and a few perimeter shooters for extended minutes. The results cant be any worse
