St. John's/Gtown game thread

I'm hoping for 10,000. Am i asking too much? I wasn't there but the paper said 6k vs Rutgers-- can anyone that was there comment on how empty the place was Wednesday night?

less then 6K. Place was empty and I thought Saturday's game is at 11 because of the NFL playoffs but the 1st game doesnt start till 4:30

11:00 start so the headline game of Lady Redstorm v. Seton Hall can be played by 1:30. :silly:

Wish they would have swapped those...it would result in a few thousand more fans probably. I can see why they did it though...they want people to stay and raise the profile of women's hoops. I really wish our women's team got the same support Marist does. Our women's team is better than our men's team and we should support them.

Not too many schools have a huge following for their female basketball program, as female athletics is a whole different beast. They should have made their game first...the men's program is the moneymaker and the national name! You don't give the men the undercard at 11:00 am. Poor planning IMO.

I have no desire to watch the women play, just like I have no desire to go and watch the fencing and bowling teams. I bleed STJs red and white, but I also don't want to come and watch the paint fade on Marillac Hall during the day.

So I will only stay tomorrow and watch a little if my train back home is much later than the end of the men's game.

If true, then I don't mind such an early game.

Getting our games on National TV is most important and should always be a priority. Just funny how this matchup has regressed big time. 11:00 a.m.?!

As JSJ mentioned and I said on the other board.

Women play after us.
Rangers were 'supposed' to play at night.
So when schedule was made we wanted ESPN and they offered up 11am. Extra hour prior to 12 would have helped change the floor for Rangers. Couldnt change ESPN schedule once they knew there would be no hockey.

Lot of the media sure loves to take shots at the C7. That's all I'll say.

Damn Atheist Media

Zionist conspiracy theory?
Oh boy, did you really have to go there?
Atheists were already taken! LOL!

I expect a big crowd. I will be there. Driving to Huntington for a half hour this morning I heard "Come watch St. John's basketball at the Garden taking on Georgetown! We are St. John's, we are...New York's team!" while listening to ESPN New York at least 4-5x...very cool and good to see that we are really getting more media exposure.

Francessa asked about 11am start said "why so early its not cyo"

Great quote.

Francessa's been in the sports media business for 25+ years and he doesn't understand why there's an 11 a.m. start on ESPN?

The close mindedness he has sometimes is amazing.

Marillac is brick on the outside :p

Off Topic Question:

A buddy of mine offered me his Madison Club tickets instead of my usual nosebleeds for the Gtwon game. What's the deal with the Madison Club? Is it any good?

Thanks.

We cant get fans to sit in nosebleeds.
I doubt our fans know about the Madison Club :)

I was in the 200's for the Cuse game last year, but then again it was a massive crowd (80% Cuse of course) so that's probably why we didn't get moved then since there was no need. Last year I went to a free Knicks practice and they moved us down from literally near the ceiling to like 5 rows back it was really nice!

He is also spoiled. I heard he has his own helicopter and gets flown from right near Grumman in Bethpage to NYC.

Is that the Garden suites?

Yeah, the pros are luxurious comfort and free food and soft drinks. The con's are end zone seating, which I've never been a fan of.

End zone seating is great for football IMO.
