St. John’s (2020-21)
Sorry to change the topic guys...but just read that BC has 2 preferred walk ons who are both 3 star kids. Don't think I've ever heard that before...
Actually, I believe all our walk-ons were preferred under Lavin.

Did you hear this from the same place that said Trevor Lawrence refused to play for the Jets?
Would you be referring to Trevor "Heisman Trophy Runner Up" Lawrence? ;)
Hahaha...no actually from a BC page somewhere online. Just happened to come across it.
Walk on's who are ranked isn't so foreign. Usually there is a backstory to it though.

They all look shorter than advertised, which is not a shock when it comes to college basketball.

Wusu looks like he can beat the crap out of most of his opponents, though.

Toro actually looks taller than 6'8.

From that picture the guys standing I'd say...

Roberts 6'9
Moore 6'10
Champaigne - 6'7
Earlington - 6'6
Toro - 6'8
Cole - 6'4

My main takeaway is Cole is in no shape or form 6'6, but you see that with JUCO a lot. It's not uncommon for their coaches to inflate their heights to get more recruiting attention on them. I remember one of CMA's recruits at Arkansas, Jaylen Barford, was listed all throughout JUCO as a 6'5 PG. He got on campus and measured 6'3. He also had a great college career and was an all-league player, hopefully Cole does the same thing :).

Cole was my main takeaway as well. Seemed really short next to Toro. Then again I think Toro seemed just as big as Moore.

Starts at the top, the NBA gives most guys a few inches. Since most young players dream of going to the NBA they just follow suit. I just assume it’s like professional wrestling they want to make these guys seem larger than life. Even at the NBA level there are very few guys who are actually 7 footers, which means without sneakers. Kobe out of his own mouth said he was 6’4” without shoes, he was listed at 6’6”/6’7” throughout his career. Probably a lot more sub 6 foot guys in the league than most people think. Most human beings including basketball players are done growing by the time they are freshman in college.

Zagoria:

Vince Cole returned to practice recently after suffering a knee bruise, per source.

It's petty in bigger picture, but it would be nice to know when they will release tip off times, really just Thanksgiving to work around the busy day.

I'd assume by late next week, give 2 weeks notice.

Heck, I gave myself an extra inch on my state ID. I can't kill our guys for doing that on a basketball bio.

Agree wholeheartedly RSNC! It will be a nice problem to have figuring out how to sneak in watching our Johnnies during Thanksgiving festivities. All 3 of my daughters, one of whom we haven't seen since last Thanksgiving, are quarantining for 2 weeks before driving down from NJ to have Thanksgiving with us. My son-in-law and I are planning to do a virtual version of the Turkey Trot that we usually do for the local Christian Mission Thanksgiving morning. I'm the only St. John's basketball fan in the group so will undoubtedly get some flak for watching a game on Thanksgiving but hoping it is early enough in the day I can sneak upstairs w/o being noticed lol.

Rothstein’s breakout players

https://collegehoopstoday.com/index...-radar-breakout-players-for-the-20-21-season/

Julian Champagnie, St. John’s: The Red Storm did a tremendous job evaluating the 6-7 Champagnie, who produced averages of 9.9 points and 6.5 rebounds as a freshman. With Mustapha Heron and LJ Figueroa no longer a part of St. John’s program, expect Champagnie to emerge as the Red Storm’s go-to guy as a sophomore.

"go-to guy"! From his mouth.......

Don’t envy the ADs & hoops staff, complicated & fluid stuff;

Sources: The Big East is intensifying its plans for a January bubble due to recent spikes in COVID-19. League is currently exploring multiple locations.
