St. Joe's game

Big win on the road over a good SJU team. This win was all Sir Dom and Phil G......Karr was ok but the rest of the guys were not on the same page. Chris was fearsome with those blocks. Once he gets an offensive game, look out.
Happy for Lav and nice props to his dad during the post game interview with Valvano.

Players late for team meals in a tournament game? This has the earmarks of another embarrassing loss.. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the opponent, we play like bleep against any level.

Lavin's ability to motivate his players seems to have vanished. That's not good for a Coach with expectations.

I think Harkless and Sampson might have been able to offset the major deficiencies of the rest of our players. But, that's just what if wishful thinking.

I wish there was something positive to say about this team but, it's not there.

You can start by saying "Nice win"

Anyone else feel strange looking at SJU plasteered all over the St. Joes court ? THE HAWK IS DEAD !!!!!!!!!!!

That was great. Nice win and gutsy play in the 2nd half. I just logged on now and am glad I didn't see the nonsense in the first half on this site that many of you are alluding to. Too many naysayers on here lately and they typically waste no time with their BS. Nice job by our guys to shut them up.

The good thing is that they earned this win through effort and some big plays down the stretch. Most of the runs they made in the last month of the season happened because other teams played the same undisciplined ball they we do. That's why the runs only lasted a few minutes, until a time out and lecture from their coach. The last 8 minutes were different, as we made St. Joe's play poorly. Took away the open three, and used our superior athleticism to guard the basket. We will never be a good shooting team. We still need to add a few shooters. Our A game is to make up for the poor shooting by getting stops and getting fast breaks. Anyone who didn't love this win needs to question what SJU basketball means to them.

Nice win by our guys! Heard the last 10 minutes of the game on the radio in my car driving home. But also recorded the game and will now sit back and enjoy those last few minutes. :)

thankfully we were rewarded at the end.

it's a strange feeling...smiling after a game...

gutsy win at the home court of a good team.

Where do they play the next round?

Would be at Virginia if Virginia wins.
They can host if Norfolk State wins.

They may have to give up the game, a la Kentucky (bye bye Cats!) if it's Norfolk State, because remember, the women's NCAA tournament is at CA on Sunday and Tuesday. Virgina's up 9 early second half, so although it's not over, it's probably a moot point.

I almost think it's better for us when we fall behind in the second half, early (not by too much, though). This team, minus Dlo, only seems to have a certain amount of good, competitive minutes in them (around 30 a game or so). In this game and Marquette, the inevitable rough patch came early second half, and so we still had enough left in the tank for a fight to the finish. Against Nova, it was fairly even until about 10 minutes left, but we were shot by that point, so the loss looked worse then it was. In reality, the three games, as different as they were, in some ways followed the same theme.

...and St. John' has won more NIT titles than any one else in the country. Come on guys, lets add one more to that stat!

They played w such great intensity at the end of the 2nd half . Nice comeback. Sir Dom is the glue like DJ kennedy was.

To the people who did not want the Redmen to play in the postseason and wanted to put the balls away I hope you realize that you made a mistake and should never give up on your team. This was a great feeling as a St. John's fan after a tough end to the season. Obviously there are still many things wrong with this team but I still think they have a bright future despite the negativity many people throw out there. Very exciting win, glad we are in the NIT.
