South Carolina Game

To me only this game and the San Francisco game pose threats to us. Sheds a bit more importance on Thursday night compared to the games against the NJIT's of the world. If we can run the OOC schedule we will set ourselves up in decent shape heading into BE play, probably even get some votes just outside the top 25

No one on our schedule warrants a single Top 25 or outside vote.

You seem pretty certain, even a little defiant on this. We go 10-2 meaning 8 straight wins and you feel the need to challenge a statement that out of 72 writers and however many coaches, not a single one will write us in the #25 spot. Have you seen how many teams get additional votes in these polls?

Their schedules warrant it.

If we're 10-2 come January, the "biggest" win would be against South Carolina. That does not deserve a vote.

There are 25 teams who are ranked, and often times an additional 25 who receive votes. We'll see where the chips fall if we hopefully win 8 in a row to finish the OOC. You went out of your way to challenge a statement that a 10-2 mark warrants a few votes. I don't see the point in doing that but to each their own.

SJU asking all fans to wear black to Thursday night's game against South Carolina to create a "blackout".....also, the first 2,000 fans will receive a free black T-shirt.....

Really want to go to this game too bad I have a class smack in the middle of it :yell:. Would have liked to get a free LARGE blackout shirt (go ahead...jget some while it's hot!).

You have better will power than me I would have cut the class provided I had cuts to take and was on top of my work

But you are doing the right thing class comes 1st You can always get the lowdown on redmen.com

In undergrad that would be something I'd do, but I haven't missed any classes in grad school and don't plan on it. It's different missing classes that will prepare you for a specific career than some elective like "Psychology of Women" which I did take by the way lol.

My God that must have been one tough and confusing class....

It was me and one other guy in the class. We didn't even know each other but on the first day I shook hands with him and said we had to stick together and buckle up lol. Lots of feminists in the class who went on anti-male rants all class. Some very interesting debates and perspectives, but definitely hard to sit through at times lol.

Sirvoo, I actually agree with you. IF we run the OOC table until Big East play I think we get some top 25 votes. We beat Detroit and Charleston, and a scrappy FGCU team. Those are 3 teams that can easily make the tourney this year. Though they are not major, they are among the better mid majors certainly not cupcakes. I say if we run the table from here we get maybe 5-10 votes. It won't be easy though...someone is bound to come out of nowhere and upset us unfortunately.

Focus should be on winning ball games, getting into the tournament, and formulating a run. Top 25 is all cosmetics in College B ball.

I agree that obviously the focus is to win 1 game at a time. At the same time I'm just saying, get passed South Carolina and San Fran and we should run the table. I'm not worried about Fordham who beat us 2 yrs ago or NJIT. The two games with any sort of competitive look to them moving forward are Thursday night and the west coast game.

It may be cosmetic, but it shows people the who's who in the college basketball world, gets your program a ton of recognition helping recruiting and drawing crowds, etc. You can't say you are a real factor unless you are ranked until tournament time where unranked teams can be just as good and even steal a win. You don't get ranked by accident or get left out of rankings by accident.

Rankings in college basketball mean nothing. Its all about who has the highest hype hence why you see the Cuse's Duke's, and what not. As long as we make the tournament who cares if we are ranked. Lavin will bring the good recruits in that we need. The rankings will come. This team will be great throughout the next year or two

St. John's had an opportunity to crack the Top 25 if they had knocked off Murray State or Baylor. They didn't, so they won't be sniffing it for awhile.

We'll have to wait until Big East play (or soon to be formerly Big East play) to prove we belong in the discussion.

I am happy to say that stub hub has 0 tickets left for this game.

This game should really start at 8pm, that extra half hour gives people alot more time to get out of work go home change, eat and be able to make it to the game, it makes a world of difference, I think you would get a bigger crowd if our games during the week started at 8 or 830p.

730 is fine for me. Used to be 7. That was too early. 8 or 830 would push away some ppl who don't wanna be out late etc...

Also of course TV comes into play and usually games are 7/730, 9/930

t got me thinking about our old friend Nurideen Lindsay......I was surprised to see how much better Nurideen's shooting stats were .....

Mr. Lindsay lacks the abilities to be a big contributor on a team in a major conference..

Lindsay's talent is better suited for the Rider University Bronco's and competition in the MAAC.

Or he could come back to the Big East, soon to be no longer confused for a major conference.

I agree 7:30 better. For me on Long ISland it's almost easier to get to MSG then it is toget to CA.

Because stubhub does not have instant download for college basketball events, all tickets are taken off 48-72 hours before the tip-off. "Last Minute Services" is not avaliable, because the nearest stubhub office is in Manhattan.

So, I don't read anything into that.

i believe stub hub does not have any tickets left, because STJ does not provide electronic tickets. All stub hub tickets would be sent overnight. i think they stop selling them at a certain time.

Much prefer the 7:30 CA start time. Running from the city, home driving back against killer reverse commute traffic is horrific some nights trying to make a 7 start. 7:30 give me some more time.

8:00 start doesn't work for TV.

Don't forget to wear BLACK as it is a Black out night.
