So after tonight should Lavin...

Serious question. With this, do you Lavin defenders still want Lavin to get an extension? If so, then you don`t mind us being humiliated by RB at our house.

Me? I be on board next year even with Lavin on the sidelines, as long as he doesn`t get an extension. How could they explain extending him after how this season ended? Except that they don`t care.
If they don`t care then why should I?

He should set out to beat cancer again by kicking Phil Greene off the team. Seems like a nice kid but he is a cancer on the court and has been since day 1. Lavin had no problem telling other kids to take a hike in the past... This one is long overdue

Actually now feel a lifetime contract should be offered.

lol well if that happens then don`t bitch and whine about our attendance, and about the other schools coming into MSG and they`re rocking msg instead of SJU fans.
Though I know you`re joking.

Its either he gets the contract extension or you fire him. As sick as I am watching this awful performance, I still dont believe this warrants a pink slip. Only beef I have is with the years, dont think he deserves that much time. If we aren't successful by this time next year then I would probably want a new coach. Just my 2 cents

This is honestly ridiculous. Tonight's game was Lavin's fault!? Should he be fired because of how the season ended? The thought of Lavin being fired in itself is a joke. There are legitimate expectations for St. John's, something we haven't had in over a decade. He has been here for 4 years (1 of which he had cancer) and you guys expect us to be competing for national championships. This guy has us landing recruits we could only dream about just a few years ago, the team's win total has increased every year. Sometimes you have to look at the players and realize they just aren't as good as we thought they would be. period. We have a very bright future, if we are in this position next year I can see calling for Lavs head but this isn't the year to do it IMO.

Its obvious now that youre Lavins relative or agent. Predict you will dissapear when Lav is gone

I could care less who the coach of this program is, I've been a fan since the early 2000's when I was old enough to completely understand what was going on. It's just hilarious to me how many fans use Lavin as a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong in this team when that is truly not the case. There is no iq on this team other than Rysheed and Branch to some extent.

I never said fired, I said do not extend him this off season and see what he does next season, I doubt we buy him out of two seasons anyway.
If no NCAA tourny next year, then yeah fire him. I don`t care about their record, just get us into the ncaa, that`s why he is here right?
To get us into the damn NCAA, it will be his 4th year with his recruits.
So taking over a mess that Norm left will be no excuse, and cancer that he had a few years ago will be no excuse.

No excuses Lavin, do the freaking job you were brought here to do and deliver us an NCAA or you should go byebye after next year.

If the Lavin defenders get upset by that, then to damn bad. Next year will be his 5th year, GET IT DONE OR GO BYEBYE.

Congratulations to Albany, one of New York State's public schools for getting it done against a team that just beat Robert Morris easily.

In one sentence you say Lavin has been landing recruits we could only dream about just a few years ago...then you say look at the players and realize they just aren't as good as we thought they would be. That's the same as saying we have a terrific headache.

I was referring to Upstate in regards to the firing comment. I agree completely that next year should be the year to contemplate his future here. Anything short of a sweet 16 next year would be a disappointment in my eyes.

Personally, I feel you'd be better served by just saying your piece, instead of adding "defenders" into many of your posts. It's like you're trying to antagonize and instigate.

The administration may have to poop or get off the pot in the next month or two.

I think a headache would be an accurate description of the state of this team. To say that we had any realistic chance at landing a kid like Rysheed or Moe before Lavin is crazy though. The biggest problem I saw this year was it looked like everyone was playing "me" ball and worrying about filling their own stat sheet in the games we looked pathetic just to appeal to the NBA scouts, I hope this year humbled them a little.

Also, Matt, you're entitled to your opinion, but it sounds silly when you continuously beat up the straw-man. You know full well that nobody here is expecting national championships. But I have a feeling you're inclination is to exaggerate because it wouldn't sound as good if you said: "you guys have ridiculous expectations, making the tournament on a somewhat regular basis?! Who the hell do we think we are? Xavier or Dayton?"

Truthfully, in the last decade are we Xavier or Dayton? I personally don't think so. Progress takes time, I see a lot of posters set expectations due to are success prior to the 90's which isn't fair. I can understand the frustration as I would give anything to have seen the success that most fans on here have seen but I feel that Jarvis dug us in a deep hole, and Norm didn't help for much other than cleaning up the program. I feel that Lavin is at least turning us into winners on some type of level, now is he the one to take us to the next step? I'm not sure, but I think it is the best interest of the program to give him a chance.

a few weeks ago i was fully in support of Lavin and I posted it here but after coming out in the Big East and crapping the bed and then playing how we did tonight, I now say we go to the NCAA's next year or we fire him. Getting good players is nice but you need to be able to coach them. Lavin is a very below average X's and O's coach as we have seen and he will need to show improvement in order to get my support. This isnt UCLA and he isnt gonna bring in McDonalds AA's to mask his deficiency which is very glaring at the worst moments...

To leave Lavin hanging going into next season would be problematic
The 2015 recruiting class will set the tone for the following 3-4 years
I would think that prospects would be turned off to St John's not knowing whether or not the coach recruiting them will be here for the long haul
I am as disappointed as everyone else about tonight's debacle
The team just didn't show up to play
And, while it's no excuse, I have seen this many times before in the NIT
Kids (and yes, they are still kids) who think they should have been in the NCAA's mail it in playing in the NIT
