@SJUCoachLavin

That's right. I just started as a Federal Officer with the TSA on July 1st and I was checking id's. I didn't even look up and I asked for the gentleman's name and I hear "Steve Lavin" and I look at the boarding pass and I see "Steve Lavin" and I look up and said, loudly, "COACH!!!". He was great! He had Phil Greene with him and introduced me to Phil. Phil told me he thinks they are going to have a great year! I've always thought Steve was a great guy but now that I've met him in person and got to talk to him, he's even better than I thought he would be. No wonder the kids love him. Thank God he came through at a slow time or else I wouldn't have been able to talk to him. HAMMER 2 ROCK!!!!!!,

Awesome story Lavin is a real cool guy. I think he is joining Phil for the funeral of his friend. I hope you didn't give him any trouble like most TSA :)

I gave him VIP treatment, which means I did my job and made sure he was safe! Really, TSA isn't out to make trouble. We just have certain procedures which, if followed correctly, keep everybody safe. Do we have some bad apples? Yes, but we are weeding them out. We are looking to become the most professional anti-terrorist organization in the world. There have been no more hijackings or bombings in the US since 9/11 and we are the reason why. If you ever have any problems with any TSA employees, please report them. They make the rest of us look bad.

I was just messing with you man, I really appreciate the job you guys do. I've never had any problems with TSA

I didn't take it personally. I really love my job and the TSA. We are doing vital work and our proceedures really do work. I say again, if you think a TSA employee has acted inappropriatly, then please report them.

I expect some PBA'esque TSA cards for certain Redmen.commers now that Greg is a TSA agent, no???? :p

You'll have to endure a pat down to get 'em! (LOL)
Sorry Moose, we don't even get a pass with the cops. They are hoping to get us Peace Officer status within 2-3 years.

I feel like there will not be any more hijackings in America because the terrorist know we are looking there. My guess is that our next terrorist attack will be some type of car bomb or some type of chemical warfare, However, If those don't work at least we now the TSA will still be there to make us come 5 hours before our flights leave. (jk)

PS. Good Lavin siting. I think this should be made into a new thread. Lavin Sitings or something like TMZ but just for Lavin, and its on a forum

At my checkpoint, the passengers are constantly remarking how there are no lines and how quickly they get through. When you have professionals running the checkpoint and when the passengers are aware of and follow the rules, it results in shorter lines and less of a waiting period. I know at a lot of checkpoints the passengers try to get us to go faster. At our checkpoint we are trying to make the passengers move faster so we can get more people through.

As a frequent flyer I can say that it really depends on the airport - some are always easy and some are always awful and most are in-between - and its rarely the TSA folks themselves that delay the process. The new full body scan machines are obviously a lot slower than the old walk throughs so that has made the process a lot longer and the increased xray scrutinization of bags makes that process slower as well but as Greg says, that's not his fault, that's policy. Also traveling on days when there's more infrequent leisure travelers in the airport, especially with kids, will slow the process down as well. Summer and holiday travel are far worse than peak corporate travel season. I understand that many feel TSA is performing a great service, for me its meh, I don't necessarily feel any safer, nor did I feel unsafe flying on Sept 24, 2011. I miss being able to show up at the airport 30 minutes before my frequent flights and still have time to stop for coffee. That said I still refuse to to get to the airport more than an hour before flight time. Of course I also get to use the priority access lanes at most airports as well.

NEW YORK — After nearly a year away from coaching while he battled and overcame prostate cancer, St. John’s coach Steve Lavin is anxious to get back to work.

“I feel good and the doctors are pleased with the progress that I’ve made,” Lavin said Saturday at the Dribble for the Cure charity event at St. John’s. “The bloodwork has come back clean and I’m cancer free.”

Great read. Like the Christian Jones comments. Sounds like a Glover/Postell.

Knew D'lo was nowhere near the 6'4 he was listed as in HS. Figure he was about 6'2. glad he has grown to 6'3 hope not just claiming to make him a better pro prospect although they take their own measurements at combines.

Steve Lavin walked into the Carnesecca Arena lobby Saturday morning with a smile and left with an even larger grin.

Meeting the media for the first time since compiling his nationally ranked recruiting class, the St. John’s coach couldn’t hide his enthusiasm for his young team.

“This team is unique in that it’s the deepest team I’ve ever coached,” Lavin said prior to the Dribble for the Cure event at St. John’s for pediatric cancer research.

My heart stopped after listening to the Met postgame show on SNY. No, not because the Mets won but after the reporter announced Steve Lavin of St. John's is cancer free. Didn't know what she was about to announce. Thank God!

There is a reason Lav and others are issuing statements about their prostate cancer in the recent weeks. September 2012 is the National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. No surprise he is cancer free as far as his PSA is concerned. Since Lav had his prostate removed there are only two outcomes: his PSA should be zero OR his PSA is registering a value greater than 0.02 which may mean that a cell escaped into the bloodstream and he would not be considered cured but would be able to get it under control for many years.
Since his is Zero, he is considered cured. Great news !!!

One of the perks of playing for us! Have a giant picture in lights at the crossroads of the world. How many teens can say they had a billboard in Times Square?

Overall we were pleased with our defensive effort today in holding DePaul under 35 percent from the field. #stjbb

As expected, we are still a work in progress, but our coaching staff can see the upside as we begin to better learn how to win. #stjbb
