SJU Transfer Targets/Possibilities

Making inroads by landing a Stepinac kid doesn’t hurt either.  Staff has done a great job with that stuff.

Soriano just committed to SJU Bingo!!! HUGE need for us!
Got a starting big man for the next 2-3 years!

Huge get!  Was some legit competition for him, staff did their work.  Big shoutout to Van Macon.... whenever he's locked in on a kid, it's almost a done deal.  Great recruiter.

Also think about this all the kids that's left on the roster is Van recruits... Posh, Wusu, and Champ.  So, he's not only landing them, he's getting them to buy in and believe in the program and CMA as well.

Ditto on Van, did a great job establishing a PSA/Munch relationship which is not easy. Drissa and Joel is not shabby

I admit I was worried about Okla State because of Boynton's and Rencher's NYC contacts, but this is truly great news! Our Big...that illusive Big is skilled, 6'11", 250 lbs, and BIG!/media/kunena/emoticons/shocked.png

Awesome news! I've always been mystified that we never seem to have any kind of legit big man. It's always been either undersized or too skinny. I mean as PF, you can probably get away with that. A true C is most definitely welcome!

Next we should soon see some additional news which I’m sure will please some and not others, which is fine. What a message board is all about

Hmm, that’s cryptic.  I can’t imagine anybody would be pleased with the news that Williams is leaving unaccompanied by an announcement that somebody else is transferring in.  Nor can I imagine that the fan base would be displeased with news that Williams is returning.  I’m going to guess it’s an unheralded transfer coming in.

“Implored @StJohnsBBall fans to step back from the ledge after wave of names entered portal. And here we are,  additions are better than the departures. Terrific pivot by staff, and they aren't finished. Wish Moore would have worked out, but this is modern college hoops. #SJUBB”

Hmmm, maybe Sills coming from Arkansas and Greg departing for one of the schools on his list. Could see how that news would please some and displease others... just a complete guess on my part.

No & leave it at that

You get Greg or an equal replacement (and we know how I feel about him as a player) and then we could talk about being ‘clearly’ improved over the guys we lost. I wouldn’t argue about any of them individually really if you were to say they are better, but I don’t see how it’s 100% certain, especially when considering familiarity. Right now I look at all the 3 transfers as great gets, but we gotta see where we finish before we definitively say we’ve improved, JMHO.

With that, Soriano was a piece we really needed.

Great point, the more of these programs who consistently churn out D1 kids that we can get involved with the better. Luhi, stepinac, two programs we would never be mentioned with.

i think that’s the answer about whether Greg is coming back.  Let’s keep it rolling!

And to think people (not just here) thought Anderson’s biggest problem was that he was not a “New York” guy. Him and his staff have put that baby to bed, big time. Could be the best NYC/metro recruiter since Franschilla, off the top of my head.

And to think there might be a “blockbuster” still coming?  One can dream... lol
