SJU Portal Targets

I still want a backup PG. We saw the impact of injuries last year. (Smith) That said, getting one willing to be on the B team in today’s world is hard. I am nervous about Sim pitching in at point, but perhaps he surprises after working on his game all summer.

I just don't see how we'd have room (yet). Hypothetically if we had Lee, Sellers, Sanon, Wilcher, Lefty, Glover - that's 6 guards right there. I don't see us getting a 7th (backup PG) unless one of the previous 6 mentioned ends up in the portal.

Lee, Sellers and a wing to replace Scott and we’re looking at a top 10-15 preseason rank.
If that is how the front end of the roster shakes out (with a couple more Euros on the bench) then there will be an enormous preseason hype around the program we have not seen in decades.

Probably since the 1991-1992 Sealy senior year team. And this will be even greater than that one.

Ok been holding out here( except to one poster on dm, appreciate you keeping in quite) ... this is my guy so i'll say what I can for now.
This kid is a player. I mean a legit player on ANY level. He's an ELITE passer, absolutly is a more than athletic enough to play at this level, can shoot the hell out of the ball. He has a ton of swag, is fearless and you guys will LOVE watching him. Don't kid yourself on him, he's for real. After the Rutgers game Pickell told me kid was a 1st team all B-10 talent and an nba player.
Drawbacks..at times he has too much swag and can force shots..i believe that was out of necessity. He also needs work on defender thr straight drive but that can be fixed.
He should be a top 10-20portal guy.
As of now I can't talk about college interest but im SURE SJ will be interested. He will test the NBA like last yr but my guess is he's a mid-late 2nd rd grade and will be back
🔥🔥🔥🔥

No chance Glover can move into backup PG role or still too soon?

New Yorkers love swag. The MSG lights will shine bright upon him.

Agree 💯 Lee would fill a tremendous void. Add Sellers lookout.

I would also include the 1999-2000 squad in terms of offseason hype. Incidentally 91-92 and 99-00 were our last 2 preseason ranked teams.

Zach: Princeton PG Xaivian Lee is entering the portal. St. John's will be involved, but it will be an uphill climb. Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Florida, among others, expected to be in there as well.

Kentucky outlet also said they're a frontrunner.

That’s why maybe we have to over pay in NIL money to convince a kid to accept backup PG role. The money, chance to play on great team, bright lights of MSG and perhaps with a guy like Malachi Smith a chance to return home. If you really want a good chance to win a NC need to step up big with NIL in this situation, don’t know how long window will be open for such lofty goals. Go for it! Go big or go home! 😊
