His people told PC he wasn't playing in January. PC has 5 guys left after everyone else went portaling. English needs to look in the mirror. Something changed in him from year one to two.

Or maybe after keeping cool while receiving accolades after year one, English merely reverted to being himself.

At this point he hasn't played in two years, basically. And I believe some of that was purely by choice which is not a decision I am enthused about.

So I have no idea how Bryce Hopkins today compares to Bryce Hopkins 2 years ago, plus I have to project him to a non-Ed Cooley program. And I suspect he will want to be paid as though he is the same guy from 2 years ago and will translate perfectly.

Bottom line is lots of financial risk and an opportunity cost from bringing him in. I would not be in a "pay for the name" frame of mind and would pass.

If he wants to take a reasonable NIL number and is ok with the expectation of being a 6th or 7th man, that's a different conversation. I would be fine with that. But I am not investing in him as a top player with a team that has aspirations. Let Cooley have him.

Agree. Hopkins with the injury sustained is way too much a risk . Plus , as mentioned ,hasn’t played in 2 years.

Cooley recruited him for PC , let him follow to G’Town .

His quickness is going to be suspect as a result .
Him passing up his visit here likely means he’s going to the Hoyas .

No problem with that .

Agree - I would not overreact (or react much at all) to anything until it's official. Too much smoke out there, situations can be fluid, and a thousand talking heads all trying to be first or throwing darts on the assumption that a few will be right and everyone will forget the rest. And then it echoes around the internet with others repeating things they've read.

Clearly the staff has been thinking about this and active for awhile and had some irons in the fire - will be interesting to see how it all shakes out in the end. But expect we will have a solid portal class regardless of formulation. And we know that whatever it looks like, Pitino will figure out how to coach it.

Coach will probably be giving him an individual workout as soon as possible. Trust Coach. Btw: at Providence on Saturday I had the pleasure of sitting with many Friar Fans. They all agreed that he’s a great player and would fit in perfectly with us. Let’s see how the visit and all important personal workout went.

he's coming Saturday. those issues you mention give me the same pause, but if Pitino wants him so do i. I didnt think Kadary would be good fit and he was incredible this seaon.

Yes, things change on a dime, but I sense at this point one of the key guards they are pursuing is all but done.
 
Hopkins reportedly had fluid build up in his knee after coming back and had it drained a few times before shutting it down. Optics appear to be be knew the team stunk, so spent the rest of the year continuing to get the knee right and eye his next move. Can understand why PC folks feel animosity towards him considering the $ they paid to him, but this is the current landscape of college basketball

Seeing B-Hop in person this year he physically appeared fine, albeit small sample size.

I’m sure it’s been reported here but Hopkins was at our NCAA game. Of course, Arkansas is also trying to get him too apparently

Arkansas obviously has deeper pockets, but one thing we have going for us is i cant see him crawling back to Cal yet again

How do you know his quickness is going to be suspect? He is a 22-year old man, who could have played in January by all accounts. Superior athletes with that injury usually make a full recovery at an early age.

How about we let the HOF coach put him through a workout on his visit this weekend before we declare a former all-conference player is no good for us.

Too, we should never be in the business of helping Georgetown, especially given their insufferable coach.
