Purely based on conjecture but I’m a lot more nervous about Florida than UNC for Lee.

Florida: he actually fits their offensive system well. A lot of leeway (lol) with guards, and their front court is returning next year while their backcourt is vacant. Golden is a rising coach and they have more established success in recent years than us. Impression of watching them in the final four should mean something. He was also HS teammates with Hough.

UNC: their three guards looked miserable all year and regressed. Whatever nba stock RJ Davis had preseason has completely evaporated. Jackson was out there guarding fours by end of year and then benched. Cadeau never progressed. Their nil is also not that great. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Duke felt like a strange fit style-wise, so not surprised they’re out. They’ll be playing through Cameron Boozer next year. I thought Demary would’ve been perfect for them.

We got the Rick factor, staying close to Toronto and friends he made in NJ, and a lineup that would be perfect for him offensively.

Just my two cents

I think the Jeremy Lin video you shared earlier is interesting. You’d have to imagine someone like Lee looks up to Lin, as a lot of players in the AAPI community would. Sure he’s reached out to discuss potentially playing in nyc. Just my two cents and something working in our favor potentially.

That’s a pure basketball analogy and a good one but this is a Princeton kid from NJ. Do not see Florida as any threat but maybe I am delusional.

I think if you leave a Princeton degree potentially on the table, you’re prioritizing basketball development and fit first and foremost, not other perks. Do think Rick’s workout recruitment thing will be a huge plus for us

If it comes down to us and Florida I believe we’ll get it done. Sure Rick is still pissed about losing Clayton to Florida, he’s not going to want to lose another head to head.

and we have the queens night market

I did a little digging, not finished yet , and I believe his parents will play à huge role in any decision he makes. His mom graduated the same law school i did ( for my first law degree ) in 2010. Means she went to
Law school after having a family, no easy task. She practices family law in a suburb of northern Toronto. If they believe that he may have a future in bball, wherever that may be, they will be smart enough to be looking for the very best coach at player development. Don’t believe, my personal belief, that NIL would be the primary consideration. Who can prepare him best for the next level will be.
To be continued.

Nothing definitive, but some chatter re SJ interest in small guard, solid shooter at Chattanooga, Honor Huff, originally from Brooklyn.

Wondering if he could back up the point, although a shooting guard I believe this year. Rick likes guys w length, but maybe Alumni Hall can chime in.

Talk about a great guy to pair next to Kadary 😪. Maybe Rick thinks he could be paired with one of our other off guards and get the job down as a ball handler off the bench. Can certainly help our shooting!
