With all the talk of Kadary & Smith, I think Scott is going under the radar and will be a great fit for a Pitino team. He has good length, a proven top notch defender and can really shoot the three ball. Has proven very durable his first three years as well. If he isn't in top 4 on the team in minutes played I'll be surprised.

If we don’t add another forward I’d agree with your last part.

You gotta imagine Smith and Kadary are locks for more minutes. Then Luis you’d think has a good shot. Zuby by sheer need for “5” minutes could also be there. Don’t think the need for a 3rd guard will outweigh the need for forward minutes so don’t think Wilcher would get more than him.

Good point, although I think if we add back Ledlum, Scott will play as many or more minutes as Chris.

Guess Johnnies are out of portal targets and staff has immersed themselves in the state of the NCAA and NIL and are done with the 24 class. 🤪

Jamir Watkins' on/off splits vs top 200 competition this past season. That FT Rate difference on offense is wild. SJU was 324th out of 362 in FTA/FGA last season. That won't happen again with Watkins and Kadary

I brought this up before. Not giving you a HW assignment but I bet if you looked the prior year before coming to sju in regards to Ledlum, Dingle, and Taylor especially, it wouldn’t look like our FT rate would have been an issue but it was.

Big contextual difference is getting to the line at the Ivies is probably a lot easier, especially for a guy like Ledlum. Dingle is a usage thing as well. I think Kadary is on a whole different talent tier and will have the ball in his hands. Watkins did this against ACC competition.

I do think Taylor is perplexing. I thought he showed potential earlier in the year to get to the line but no one really knows what happened with him post-Hofstra.

RJ's drop off was only from 3.5 to 3.1. So that's also worth mentioning. I also expect that to go up.

They were huge declines tho. Of course you would think the level of play factors in.

Fouls come from taking the ball to the rim. We did not exactly try to play through the post last year. We were sort of "midrange kings" with a few drives and a bunch of 3s thrown in for variety.

No question that we now have some players who can take the ball to the rack but usage and the offensive approach remain to be seen. If we are going to play 4 out and try to bomb 3s all year we won't be shooting a lot of FTs. If we use spacing to create matchups for drives, that's another story.

I just think it's easy to over read stats without paying adequate attention to context. I'm in neither the "stats are garbage" camp nor.the "stats are king" camp - I think they are a tool that has to be considered and used appropriately.

Dingle's SOS went from -1.11 to 9.58 and his usage was cut from 35% to 22%. His free throw rate was also down. I actually think his rate would be better next year if he was here.

I simply don't think Ledlum athletically could draw as much fouls compared to getting blocked.

My only point - would anyone have guessed this drop off from Dingle?

I don’t know the situations regarding Florida state and Watkins FTR.

I'm happy with the team as it is. Any additions by Coach will just be a plus. I would be happy for Ledlum and/or Dingle to return. I think their performances will improve with a decrease in their PT.
I agree. Ludlum was always the last starter to go to the bench and the key guy when the "B Team" took the floor.
