Wonder if the "NIL-centric" source is more about his handlersMitchell on his Auburn visit:
Dillon Mitchell wraps up Auburn visit: 'Visiting again was pretty dope'
Texas forward transfer Dillon Mitchell departed his official visit to AU on Wednesday and talked about his experience with Auburn Live.www.on3.com
Sources told Auburn Live heading into the visit that Cincinnati and Ohio State were legitimate contenders for Mitchell. St. John’s can also be added to the mix, along with Miami, and of course now Auburn. Sources also tell Auburn Live that Mitchell’s recruitment is very NIL-centric. Mitchell didn’t specifically mention Ohio State or St. John’s after his Auburn visit, only confirming his interest in the two other schools he has visited.
So, what’s next for Mitchell?
“I don’t have a timetable for my decision. I want to find a home real soon,” Mitchell said. “It comes down to the best opportunity not only to win, but to get to the level I want to get at.”
Thinking long term, I would think that development for potential future income for many years would trump more money upfrontI know his handlers and to be fair they are doing a good job by him...they are creating a bidding war, waiting out the market to and have already gotten him 50% more than had he jumped in weeks ago. The issue with them is they are not endearing themselves to anybody with brashness but as much as we, myself incl don't like it that's what their job is. The bigger question is what discount is worth development and winning? Honestly not sure if their is enough data or history to support either argument. For now agents job is to get their client highest offer and that's what's been happening here
Leon's son!Sam Rose w NBA clients is one of Mitchell’s agents
YupLeon's son!
Not sure I agree with the "striking out" part.I guess power forwards are at a premium cause that’s the one position the staff keeps striking out on?
Disagree that staff struck out last year. Ledlum was undersized but was far from a whiff. Most of us were elated when we got him.I guess power forwards are at a premium cause that’s the one position the staff keeps striking out on?
there will always be some poster criticizing something here.... (though i haven't seen anyone here blasting the staff following the smith/kadary signing...)I believe we were rated as being in the top 5 in portal transfer classes so far (not to mention an excellent frosh prospect in Glover) and we may not be done. Pretty crazy to criticize what the staff has done to date in restocking imho.
