I know his handlers and to be fair they are doing a good job by him...they are creating a bidding war, waiting out the market to and have already gotten him 50% more than had he jumped in weeks ago. The issue with them is they are not endearing themselves to anybody with brashness but as much as we, myself incl don't like it that's what their job is. The bigger question is what discount is worth development and winning? Honestly not sure if their is enough data or history to support either argument. For now agents job is to get their client highest offer and that's what's been happening here

Thinking long term, I would think that development for potential future income for many years would trump more money upfront
But that opinion is coming from an old guy - kids generally don't look at things that way - they want immediate rewards/gratification
This doesn't sound promising for St John's

If I were advising Mitchell, I would suggest he take less money and go play for a coach like Larranaga or Pitino to coach him up. Tear down that shot and build it from a scratch and add a few go-to moves from the FT line extended.
He has all the projectability you could ask for, but the skill set is underwhelming. He could have a 10 year NBA career with some elite coaching and hard work.

Disagree that staff struck out last year. Ledlum was undersized but was far from a whiff. Most of us were elated when we got him.
I believe we were rated as being in the top 5 in portal transfer classes so far (not to mention an excellent frosh prospect in Glover) and we may not be done. Pretty crazy to criticize what the staff has done to date in restocking imho.
there will always be some poster criticizing something here.... (though i haven't seen anyone here blasting the staff following the smith/kadary signing...)
if they can fill this last slot with ANYone 6'8+... think our class lands in the Top3...
