Pitino should definitely win the contest of who could develop him more. Hopefully he has similar priorities this go around
Thanks for posting this great piece, dk. Btw, I'd like to take credit for starting the 'must get Kasean!' frenzy, lol.

I write this post from my tent on the Great Lawn where I've begun my encampment village to demand St. John's divest all of its endowment funds from Tyson Foods especially from its subsidiary Big Az Burgers.

We plan to seize the Marillac Cafeteria later today, but I fear everyone will be grateful and will just leave us alone.
The Great Lawn in Central Park seems kind of far from St. John’s.😉

I do see a bit of the Luis thing marillac pointed to, but overall talent and the defensive ability alone..🤌🏼

Yes it’s Rice, the defense here is wow

He had 5 blocked shots that game and 18 the rest of the season. That doesn’t seem to be who he is and Rice, as you an alluded to, is awful.

I only saw him one game in the NIT and VCU was hitting shot after shot in his face with his poor close outs on the perimeter. But he does slide well on drives. Seems a half-step slow on rebounds and defending perimeter jump shooters but looks damn good staying with drivers.

He looks good in the pick and roll/fade/pop. His shooting is that of a legit guard and he makes himself available on the perimeter exceptionally well. It makes think he has some wild/late growth spurt.

His value to me is as a 5. I’d roll with Scott at the 4 all day over him personally and it’s not even close.

I do think this kid is a legit NBA prospect down the road. He may have to earn it in lower leagues first.

The highlights of these types of players will always be ridiculous. Put RJ’s best 5 minutes together and he will look like KD.

One other thing I do like of Pryor is that he was an essential part of USF's 20-1 streak. Averaged 28mpg, 14 ppg, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. 37% from 3pt.

Easy to lose track of what context these stats/highlights come from.

It was the perimeter defense that stood out to me. Dominated that game in the second half on both ends. Turned them into Rice-a-roni.

He was 6’0 at some point in high school and a guard supposedly. His size is legitimate. Extremely long and jumpy, not worried about the ability to play the 5 but do worry a bit with him next to a more natural 5 at the 4-5 spots. At the 5 would let us play 5 out with opponents center away from the rim which is going to pay dividends for Luis and Richmond. Scott and him at the 4-5 essentially replaces our shooters at the wings. Throw kadary in the mid post and let him work.

Believe I did read that he was a guard and did have a late growth spurt.

That’s how I see it. The shooting is legit and it’s not just that he makes shots…it’s how he makes himself available and how he stretches the defense.

And he’s competent in the open court.

I’d rather see him at the 4 in a pinch over Zuby.

If we get him we can say goodbye to any of the potential (limited sorry beast 😁) minutes at the 4 for zuby.

Probably doesn't mean much, since it's 'stack 'em high' Calipari involved, but Arkansas has gotten Jonas Aidoo (TN) and Zvonimir Ivisic (KY)--2 bigs--from the Portal.
