Regarding Richmond, I’m assuming his endgame is 1st round NBA draft pick so if anyone thinks he’s gonna cause problems or not play to his fullest potential and possibly screw that up, I really don’t know what to say. Between that and Pitino obviously wanting him, should be a slam dunk to want him.

Oh boy. lol

"WE" is the operative word.

He is referring to the staff not the fan base...LOL

Guy has been one of the greatest coaches ever is as motivated as ever to get to another Final Four and yet we have people thinking this is Chris Mullin/Mike Anderson Part 2....

He always had the plan in place. Always.
No kidding.

From Zach: Smith quotes.

A few quotes from Deivon Smith:

On his decision: "I just wanted to be pushed and get a different challenge. I want to be great. I paid attention when they called me, paid attention to all the details and they were the best fit. ... [Pitino] definitely praised my game, just showed me ways I can be successful in his program and in the future. He definitely believes in me a lot. It made my decision easier."

On Big East: "I love it. I know they have some good guards," he said. "I know it's going to be a fight each and every night I step on the court. I love the big moments."

This has to do with Smith not being officially signed is my guess so Rick technically can't talk about him thus referring to three spots.
I don't think so he does not comment directly on Smith but his reference to getting one more guard is in addition to landing Smith.

That interview is post-Smith commitment.

As long as he does not comment directly about him he's fine but he can still allude to the fact that they have him committed.

He maybe just miscounted or as I said earlier or ultimately going over the 13 is not a concern.

Bottom line is he is going after UCONN. Whatever it takes...

Only thing keeping RJ on the bench are his shins... Kid is gonna Start - 1st team ALL-BE Loading
I think this will be a split start approach, but the minutes will be similar. Wilcher probably hands over some starts as well.

There are zero chemistry concerns with Scott and we will need to build back some shooting. Strong case can be made that Scott is the better fit alongside Richmond.

So other than Ledlum coming back - which might be wholly adequate to round out the roster - what portal bigs are worth keeping tabs on?

Jamir Watkins and Dillon Mitchell is who SJU11 said. Trilly said yesterday we're trying to get Mitchell on campus this week and Watkins is TBD.

Hear they are not on Watkins as hoped. Again, fluid stuff
Would be exciting to run him out there, but having PF manned by essentially two SFs (pick any two of the ones we have) puts a lot of pressure on Ejiofor. Looks like we may be trying slightly more traditional PF route.

Was not sold on Watkins. Mitchell has big pluses and obvious minuses. I'd be happy with Ledlum but we can't count on that so a-portalling we go.

What are Mitchell's minuses? (legit question)

I know nothing about him. But looking at his stats alone, it seems he's exactly what we need.
