Great give and take here on the offensive compatibility of Smith and Kadary and concerns about adequate perimeter shooting.

What are everyone’s thoughts on how the two playing together would impact the defense and potentially generate stops and perhaps turnovers that lead to easy buckets.

Bottom line is we need both guys and Pitino will figure out minutes and combinations. I am operating on assumption Smith will commit this week. Kadary’s camp beats to a different drum and hopefully he opts for us this week. Imo, getting both will make SJU a very solid program. Without either it becomes more challenging.

Would love for both to be signed, sealed, and delivered soon so we could see if a counter-offer to Omier is possible. With him we have legit shot at a deep deep run.

Defensively I think they are fine. Kadary guards the 3 and Smith the 1 with Wilcher on the 2 and Luis and Zuby get the 4 and 5. Although, if the 3 is very athletic and you can get Luis to focus I would switch Luis and Kadary defensively

I'm pretty bullish on the defense overall if Kadary and Luis are fully bought in to playing hard and playing the way Pitino wants them to on that end. Smith is solid on that end and while he didn't have a high steal rate himself part of that could be tied to the fact that Craig Smith's defense isn't structured to produce turnovers.

Defense would be the key with those two. Smith has the raw tools to be just ridiculous on defense. He’s such an insane athlete.

Richmond has to know his ticket to the NBA will be great defense and competent shooting. 2.2 steals per game is pretty stellar for a 6’6 kid. He’s not the athlete Smith is but he can switch on anyone.
