SJU Portal Targets

Omier is a Bummer Baylor spends all this money every year and still suck more often then not they annoy me. Land Kadary then hopefully we find another forward if indeed the Omier ship has sailed.

Deivon's a home run. We should be elated we get him tomorrow.
Absolutely, going into portal mania, it was clear a very good PG was a priority. Omier obviously appeared to be a huge addition and disappointing to likely lose him. I believe they will shore up the interior with a guy a notch below, but as Moose said, college hoops is still a guards game. I sense Kadary camp will make their choice this week and hopefully it is SJU. If those three things happen and returnees improve, this will be a highly competitive team and should dance. That’s not bad around here.

If this whole insider/rumor mill thing did not exist, and we woke up on June 1 with a transfer portal class of Deivon Smith, Kadary Richmond, Jamir Watkins (or someone like that), Aaron Scott, and Vince Iwuchukwu along with retaining everybody the staff wanted to keep, we'd all be on cloud nine/elated. Hopefully it happens.

On paper, we would be more talented, more athletic, and a better fit for Pitino than last year by a long shot. Hopefully with a changed focus of making pieces fit/jell on Day 1, we'll see a better start out of the gate.

Very good point dk

You only feel that way because he is the least likely to come and we are conditioned for disappointment
No he is the best player of the three.
But this whole process is a hot mess so don’t see how could blame a coach if don’t get potential portal recruits.
Unless the process changes hope ST John’s in future would use portal to target a specific need or two instead of try ing to build a team through the portal.

+1000

We all got gaga over landing Omier and thinking a top 10-15 program was within grasp, but as you said, this likely a step up.

Don’t disagree except haven’t replaced top two 3 point shooters from last year and as much grief as people gave Soriano, not sure who on the above team can get us an easy basket down low.

Assuming Smith and Kadary on board we will be so much better in the backcourt and on the wing that we won’t need to rely on the center position for 15 ppg. As far as 3-point shooting, a player like Deivon Smith makes everyone better from deep.

Soriano bricked so many layups. His midrange game was really good.
