Legit Targets we missed on
Amari Williams
Aaron Scott

Legit Targets we are pretty much out on
Cliff Omoruyi

Targets we supposedly passed on
Bensley Joseph
Kerr Kriisa

Players we were linked to but never really pursued
Jordan Pope
DJ Davis

Players we got
Vince Iwuchukwu

Current Targets
Deivion Smith
Dillon Mitchell
Ken Evans Jr.

Given what has transpired I have no idea why we never truly pursued Jordan Pope once he hit the portal. He checks all the boxes on what the team needs in the backcourt right now.

If we're hosting a visit for Ken Evans Jr. why not just pursue DJ Davis earlier in the cycle? They'd play the same role and Davis is much better.

Don't know why we never kicked the tires on Tobe Awaka once we fell behind in the running for Cliff to instead take a raw injury/health prone kid with no offensive ability. Awaka would have got the starting role he was looking for close to home. Weird we didn't kick the tires on that one.

Would be a huge disappointment if we needed to take him back. What is going on here?

Pitino should call CMA and see how he got Stef Smith to come here.
It would be a huge disappointment to bring back a kid everyone loved, that shot 42.3% from deep, was our second best defender, and put the team first to a fault?

Do you want our guys to be learning the defense again in early February?

We will never know this but I'd want to know what level of disappointed the staff would be. Is it "meh" or "wtf"

Luis and Taylor pair far better IMO. I like Luis at the 4…especially if he gains 8-12 lbs of muscle like some of Pitino’s past forwards. Do you really want Luis defending smaller wings?

I’m sure you’d agree that Taylor is a better offensive player than Scott. Taylor’s handle for 6’6 is impressive to me…I just wish he could finish better if he’s not fouled.

I do like the idea of Scott and Luis in a small lineup together with whoever we bring in at the 4 playing the 5. I feel like Scott would contribute more to the aggregate in a big man by committee there.
Couple things. I thought Luis and Taylor would (will) pair well together but Rick obviously did not.

I’m not sure I agree about Taylor being better offensive player. Certainly he does thing better, but I’m not sure if he’s better in the “4” spot as a stretch option and a screener. Taylor definitely the better ball handler and capable of hitting the open 3.

Personally I’d pay Taylor at the 4 offensively where he may have better shot of getting by his man. Good handle and all, he rarely got by true wings who were able to give him a step or 2. Then I’d have Luis guard the 4 and Taylor defend the wing.

Not to mention on both sides of court, he had knack to make a big play at critical junctures of games. I’ll miss him & would welcome Taylor back in a heart beat.

Amase's bolded point above is why I don't see Taylor returning as much as I'd love to see it. Unless Glenn was killing it out there he sat and can't see him returning for that reason.

I forgot, this board wants to keep dime a dozen college basketball players and expect to compete with the big boys.

We need better players than Glen Tylor and Chris Ledlum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see Taylor as a 3/2. I see Luis as a 3/4. I’d much rather have Taylor defending the quicker perimeter player and Luis defending the stretch 4.

Scott is a 4/3 to me so if it comes down to Taylor or Scott at the 4 it’s obviously Scott there. I see some redundancy with Scott and Luis.

Play 4-5 guys out on offense and let Luis and Taylor both play perimeter roles and take advantage of matchups. If Taylor could add sone moves in the paint he could unlock a lot of potential in his game.

I agree all the way, I just think Taylor would fair better on offense if he was guarded by 4s. I dont think his size advantage plays out when guarded by quicker guards or wings. I know you cant chose who guards you but if Luis and Taylor were playing together Id want Luis to guard the 4 and Glenn to be guarded by the 4.

Would Taylor fair better if he were guarded by Wilcher or guarded by Ledlum? (assuming they are equal defenders for their position)

Let Taylor find his worth on the open NIL market. If he wants to return, and CRP wants him, he's familiar with the coach and staff. Less break-in wear on all concerned.

The Ivy league acceptance rate at all schools is about 10%. For athletes, the acceptance rate is about 85%. It points to everything wrong at all colleges.

The reality is that fans have no interest in watching 1500-1600 SAT with limited athletic skills play basketball or football.

Trail that down to leading academic institutions and if athletes weren't given special consideration for acceptance, the best schools would pretty much field the worst teams.

That's not to say that there aren't some exceptional students AND exceptional athletes. There are.

The point and truth is that top athletes are recruited for how well they play a sport, not how they do in the classroom. That's the value they bring to the university.

For decades, schools got a very lopsided deal in offering athletes capable of filling stadiums free classes, a dorm room far worse and smaller than a motel six, cafeteria food, and a tiny amount of spending money in exchange for tv, ticket, and apparel revenue, huge bumps in applications and branding and national recognition for the school.

Pay the athletes, drop the sports that few care about and are a drain to $ resources, and be done with it.

The mere fact that we know the names of players from 50 years ago who never sniffed an nba court and never made a penny off the millions they raked in for the school tells us all we need to know about the inequity of it all.
Well said.
