SJU Portal Targets

We did less driving and kicking than any other team I saw all year. Our ball movement was complete trash. The best pass was actually almost always from Dunlap.

He took way too many tough to okay shots. He should be able to pass on those and know he will get better looks.

Watch what this kid does if/when he gets a PG.
You’re obsessed with Jenkins I know. Our offense was generally very good. It was the defense that was the problem.

I for one am pumped up at the idea of getting Vince. I believe in the talent.

USC’s program became a shit show under Enfield. With a real staff coaching this kid up I believe he can be very solid
Relatively high floor with 16 mpg for a power 6 as a soph. The ceiling isn’t quite there which is an odd thing to write about a 7’1 kid.

I like it, though, but I also love Zuby and Maker.

A fair conversation to have after roster is filled out is whether or not it looks better than last year’s, factoring in anticipated improvement of returnees and productivity of new portal guys at previous stops, injury recovery and takes on opinions on the “fit factor”. It really is guesswork, but could be interesting discussion. I know Rick had to rush last year to reconstruct things. We now have a reasonable base of returning players and soon will have open spots filled. An objective comparison is not a perfect process, but worth looking at imo.
No one really seems to count on Lefteris on this site at all for next year. Almost as if invisible , forgotten , or just an unknown. I certainly dont know his skill level . Whats your opinion about his skill level and ability to contribute year 1,2, or 3?

His last highlight reel was in a gym that half the lights didn’t work so most of us over 50 couldn’t see him in it

Think back to big expectations for Sim and reality of how hard it is to move the needle year one when playing against stronger, more experienced guys, many of them 22-23 years old

I can't speak directly about Lefty but, in general, I never have high expectations for a freshman
Acclimating to college in general and to the rigors of playing major college basketball takes time and patience
Most recently - look at Sim and Brady - they took some lumps this year but will be all the better for it next season
As the old adage goes, "the best thing about freshmen is that they will be sophomores next year"

Some of you guys are way too hung up on Zach's wording and not seeing the situation for what it is.

When your No. 1's price keep going up and up and up, and No. 2 was also too expensive and clearly leaning another way -- and had meh numbers that probably don't translate to Big East anyway -- the No. 3 option IS the priority.

If No. 3 was highly ranked, had health issues, and spent the year with a team that had no chemistry and a coach who knew he'd be leaving months ago, you take a chance on the upside. If it doesn't work out, you hope the center committee somehow does.

And if for some weird reason it isn't Vince, hopefully it's someone good.

The saying that the best thing about freshman is that they become sophomores should be relegated to the dust bin in this day and age of one and done and the transfer portal. Watched the Greek lefty play on the 18 and under Greek game today curtesy (well the second half anyway) of Paultz’s post and he will be taking a big leap playing against the last Covid year of college ball.

That’s true Paultz, but remember, many of these European players come up playing against older competition. Thats why so many of these Euros look so good in the NBA at such a young age. I for one don’t believe Lefty will be overmatched here.

The best thing about sophomores is they become juniors.

Any freshman, with few exceptions at BE level, will have a learning curve, some shorter than others. I have seen him on video, seems skilled, but not going to predict anything until he plays some games.
