I honestly wish he would have come here right out of HS. Would have saved the NCAA drama this summer/fall will bring. Oh well. He's a big time talent and I look forward to seeing him play next Fall (hopefully!). Fingers crossed.

This was the one player I was really upset we didn't get to come a couple years ago. Very pleased he is part of the team now.

This might be the most anticipated season since Felipe Lopez. It didn't quite turn out that way but I was hopeful. That is a different story. Exciting time.

Welcome Mustafa, hope you bring your maturity and talent to SJU to bring us back to relevancy.

Hope you Mother gets better, most important of all!

Is it a violation to send get well flowers / edible arrangement to his sick mom? Maybe we have a redmen.com collection to show her some love

Heron goes 6'5 218, and averages about 6 rebounds per game. Also an 80% FT shooter. Simon goes 6'5, 215, and grabbed 7 boards per game. Ponds, while only 6'1, grabbed 5 rebounds per game.

Hard not to be very excited.

Mustafa, welcome!

Exciting times! Yes!!
And to think a mere few months or so ago there was still such agonizing and criticizing (the Winter of Our Discontent - written BTW here in Sag by Steinbeck) where CK and staff were taking us - such lack of patience and trust ( I'm included in that group at times) - the fog and gloom of recent times - as with the sun just now at 2pm appearing through the clouds here in Sag Harbor - GOOD TIMES AT HAND
AND more important to back what others have posted here...
ALL the best to you Mr. Heron - hope your family enjoys recovery and health and that you completely enjoy your time on the court and in the classroom at SJU!
WIshing you, your back-court mate Shamorie, and your teammates move us onto a fantastic 2018-19.
Congratulations Mustapha!

We already had the best rebounding back court in the country. Figueroa + Williams will be pluses there as well. Dixon, who I think becomes the true wildcard if Heron is cleared, is bigger than Ponds and Lovett.

Sort of like having the tallest dwarfs? Hottest ugly girls?
Sort of kidding. Looking forward to next year especially if Herron eligible. Guards are going to have to rebound considering the one forward that is going to start doesn't rebound. Still against some team this will be a problem.

Just goes to show you while we get impatient with our recruiting efforts the staff is patiently picking up studs such as Heron. I have to say,"Great job Matt." And welcome Mustafa.

Id say were the richest of the poor.

Forgetting what theyll play on offense i think LJ, Heron, and Simon all are SF size and strength without a doubt.

Clark is going to have to rebound defensively. If not grab boards at least box out so that wings and guards can get there.
Again hope they start Clark, Figueroa, Simon, Heron (fingers crossed) and Ponds. But rebounding will be an issue.

Agree completely with both these posts. Think we will rebound we’ll enough in these positions to not be at a big disadvantage rebounding.

Beast, what the rebounding stats show is that these players play bigger than their listed heights which, with their speed, may translate into a very exiting run DMC type of game.

Do you realize we could get 18 rebounds per game on average from our starting GUARDS? IF the starters average 30, we can actually be a pretty damned good rebounding team that runs all night
