Should SJU apply to the ACC ?

Even though they are putting a nice spin on it, I think the Big East is in trouble. The basketball schools should settle this right now. Don't wait. Don't try to save the Big East by bringing in TCU and hoping Kansas comes in next year. Get the non football schools and a few others together and make a basketball conference. There is a report just out that Nova wants to go to the ACC.

The new Bi East should be St. John's, Villanova, Notre Dame (football team stays indepedent), Georgetown, Seton Hall, Providence, Marquette, DePaul, St. Joe's, Temple. Make it a NY, Philly, Chicago, Boston rivalry. We'd still have the best basketball conference and save a couple of rivalries. 10 teams are enough.

Nova will never allow 1 yet alone 2 other Philly teams. Think about it. They hold leverage over the other 2 schools that would be compromised.

How about Duke dropping Football(they are year in year out) the doormat of that league and join a new Big East Basketball only Eastern Conference

Duke (keep UNC Basketball rivalary seperate)
St. John's
Providence
Seton Hall
Temple(keeps Football in the MAC)
Villanova(maybe jumps to MAC football D-1)
DePaul
Xavier
Butler
Marquette
Notre Dame (if it stays out of the Big Ten)
Georgetown
Dayton
UNC Charlotte
VCU
George Mason

Becomes a fun basketball only league, with a solid history, we keep the tourney in MSG (I know 3-4 teams are somewhat of a stretch, but they have a solid following, plus Duke could be a good TV draw)

they won't have a choice moose. If they are invited to join the new BE they should count their blessings and shut up after trying to blot for the ACC.

did we get a football team I'm not aware of? No? Then no shot of us being in the acc.

Zags tweeted the basketball only be schools had a confernece call today.

Its not beyond the realm of possibility that the ACC could add a couple of hoops only teams.

I wouldn't impact how they split their football revenue and it would strengthen their hoops dominance.

What they've put together is the 4th best (out of 4) football conference in the country but the top hoops conference.
that being the case, I would add Nova and SJU over Pukon and Rutgers, simply because SJ's would give ultimate NYC stronghold, and Nove Philly. To heck with Pukon and Rutger's nubby football programs. That's why Edsall went to the Terps!

Nova has a football team so yu can't include us with them.

If I were the ACC I'd add Uconn and Nova for football and SJU and G'town for hoops only.

You'd have two 8 team football divisions and two 9 team hoops divisions.

No one will be picking up Nova for football in the new major conferences. I hope that they are smart enough to give up that dream before they waste millions oni it.
More importantly, the monkey is baaaaack! Yes!!

villanova has no say..it has one vote. they wanted out so screw them. go along or get along.

Exactly. They are the schools and the fan bases that really need to be concerned. Basketball is not going anywhere. March Madness isn't either. Its a double digit billion dollar entity.

I don't know moose. the new broadcast deal for march madness between the NCAA and CBS/Turner Broadcasting is 10.8B over 14 years. $771M a year is only a couple of mill a season to each NCAA member school.

If those schools think they can score a deal with their own 64 team post season tournament that pays them the same or more, they will be gone in a heartbeat.

KSU, Baylor, and Iowa State to Mountain West.

TCU and South Florida to Conference USA (full members)

Kansas and Cincy to Conference USA (football only)

New Big East:
St. John's
Villanova
Georgetown
Providence
Seton Hall
Temple

Kansas
Notre Dame
Xavier
Cincinnati
Marquette
DePaul

Now all I need is the money to make sure it happens.

I'm praying " Energy Kitchen " gets bought out for a couple of billion dollars so Mike Repole can buy us a football team

Kansas State will have to come with Kansas and why don't we add Butler ? Butler has a fabulous basketball program. Both Kansas and Kansas State were top 25 teams last year and Butler belongs to a medicre conference and would bolt to a new Big East in a heartbeat.

You know who I really feel bad for. The 40-50 teams that play Div 1a football (or whatever the modern terminology is, I am not a college football fan) that won't be included in the mega conferences.

Anyway, the best case scenario is that the AD's and Conference Admins realize that they're being greedy prigs and make a deal with the NCAA where they take football away for themselves and leave hoops as it is thereby allowing the NCAA to maintain some face and letting all the other schools to reorganize with hoops as their athletic emphasis.

Bingo. plus the NCAA runs EVERY other sport that these colleges participate in.
Baseball, soccer, swimming, etc.
F^#* college football, it's an SEC winner anyway.

Boston?
Forget about them.
D. C. is bigger and better.

Screw nova.
They tried to leave the hoop schools out to dry.
Every other Hoop school should vote to add Temple.

+1.

Temple has a great tradition, a great coach and an on-campus arena that would make us all salivate.

But they also have D1 football. And I have a feeling that the bball only schools are going to say No.

Not a problem, they won't be in any of the super conferences.
Another reason to add UMASS.

They are quite happy as a football-only member of the MAC.

UNC Charlotte

Charlotte started a football program. The stadium in under construction. I picture them back in the CUSA (if it still exists) in 5 years.
