@Seton Hall, Sun. Dec. 31, 5p, FS1/570AM

If the two transfers we have coming in next season give us anything close to what Owens, Clark & Simon have given us, we will be in a really good place!

I agree Paultzman, screw moral victories at this point. It’s too bad about Lovett and Ponds. We just have to hope to get healthy by the Big East Tournament and hope to make run. The regular season is over. Just not enough bodies.

The regular season is over? Really? Silly

No shame in how the guys played tonight. Free throws could improve. If anyone disappointed it was Mullin with the stupid technical late in a close game. He should have known better.

I'm not blaming the team for this loss given the circumstances, but starting 0-2 and likely 0-3 is frustrating. I wish close losses counted on the resume or RPI but they don't. A close loss hurts us the same as a blowout loss on Selection Sunday.

Really bad luck for this team. Hoping we recover soon and get back to winning.

What happened with the technical foul called on the bench, before Mullin got his?

They don't count in those terms, but if the backcourt comes back strong, and we are on the bubble selection sunday, then this game should count for a lot in the eyes of the selection committee. I'm generally not an "eye test" guy (that's especially true regarding SJU, because I know our team so well), but at the very least, this game won't hurt if we're on the bubble.

True but that's assuming we get at least 8/9 wins, which I'm not very confident about at this point. Every loss is one less chance to get to that mark.

In a way I'm more frustrated the game was so close, because we could've won with just one of Ponds or LoVett in. Obviously as you said it's better for the game to be close, but still frustrating.

Tired of always being in a hole. Last year we actually started Big East play well, but the season was over before then. Even our last tournament team was ranked and then lost the first 3 BE games.

I thought once OOC play ended we wouldn't have must win games anymore, but not the case. Sorry just venting. Get well soon Ponds and LoVett.

Saw DePAULS new facility on TV makes ours look 2nd rate

2nd rate? Try third or fourth rate. To the posters always saying we win this game if we had this guy or that guy you are wrong. Who knows what would happen? I'm not saying maybe we don't but you can't say definitively we would. The whole dynamic of the game would be changed. Did you ever think that maybe SH's mindset going in was Oh we should have an easy game tonight? And with either or both our other guards Simon doesn't play the game the way he did and do you really think Owens goes off and scores 19 points he would hardly get to shoot. Kids played with great intensity and hustle the likes we haven't seen to date because they knew we were short handed and it was our only chance to win. They deserve tons of credit and I hope they continue to play with that intensity and hustle even after the return of the laconic Mr. Ponds.

Moral victories dont help in the standings but the team far exceeded my expectations today. Maybe we focused a little to much on Delgado tonight and let up too many threes in the first half but again some long shots went in that hurt, particularly the shot by Rodriguez over Owens. Hopefully Ponds and Lovett get back soon and Mullin can mesh them in.

True, having Ponds or Lovett doesn't mean we win, but at least it makes it more likely. So when the game is close it's hard not to wonder. I'm not sure what the equivalent of WAR is in basketball (plus/minus?) but whatever it is Ponds and LoVett help with that far more often than not.

The upcoming stretch is absolutely brutal (5 top 5 teams in 8 games), which really makes these losses tough to take.

Have to love this guy;

Love him. Huge heart! Has improved significantly every year. Great energy. Seems to be growing more confident each game. Can’t ask for more.

If and when LoVett and Ponds come back healthy, does Owens really come off the bench?

Simon was great today! Would like to see him running the offense most of the time.

Not enough Marcus hasn't played in a month - he had to contribute a tech during this affair. CM should have sent him to the locker room.

Great, gutty team effort otherwise.

We are... St. John's
