My bad.. The reason I thought it was directed towards me was because in the thread, OLV72 was replying to me, then you replied to them, so I just presumed in the flow of the conversation it was directed towards me.. My concern is his regression this year, however I am not one that thinks he shouldn't be back next year.. I'm just hoping it's a bad year and he can regain form (which maybe by the numbers you posted he is doing so)... I'm kind of honored it only took me 1000 posts to finally get noticed by you.. Winky face, tongue sticking out face, big smile face.

There are on this board a dozen guys called NYC something or red something with a picture of Marcus Lovett as their avatar. I couldn't keep them straight even if I wanted to. Me, I'm easy: I have a three letter name, a picture of Larry Fine affixed to the sphinx as an avatar and am singularly an obnoxious asshole. It would be hard to confuse me for anyone else. The rest of you not so much.

I too am concerned about his regression. I thought last year he was destined for greatness. Now I hope he becomes at least half of what last year he looked like he could be - which at this point is Willie Glass lite. On the bright side he plays hard, he has size, he has insane hops and he looks pretty jacked. Although nearly a junior he's still very young. He's also a furriner, and he has no natural position. Ideally he'd be a three, but he doesn't have the handle of a three. He's not quite big enough to be a four and five is out of the question. In addition he this year has displayed poor hand that he did not display last year. He is not a good rebounder, which it seems he should be with his size and athleticism. This year has so far been an enigma. At the risk of repeating myself, he looks like he's thinking about what he's been told he needs to think about, as opposed to doing what he's been told what he should do. There was a saxophone player called Charlie Parker who said about being a great saxophonist that first you have to learn how to play the saxophone and that once you do that you have to forget about how to play the saxophone and just play the saxophone. To the extent that that's true I hope Yakwe soon forgets how to play the saxophone.

Anyone who helps keep alive the memory of Larry Fine, the forgotten stooge, can't be all bad.

I thought the forgotten stooge was Shemp?

Yes! Larry was always a Stooge. Many connoisseurs are disappointed when they see Shemp because it means no Curley. Shemp was the forgotten Stooge and Curley Joe was the desperate twilight of the era, after-thought Stooge...

For the leader of the L.Ron Fun Larry Fine Sphinx Cult, you should know this stuff.

Going off-topic here, but reading this, I was reminded of when Gary Cohen (or was it Howie Rose?) was arguing with a cohort in the booth about who was funnier, the Marx Brothers or the Three Stooges. Gary (or Howie) said the Three Stooges got the nod because of superior bench strength: Shemp and Curly Joe vs. Zeppo and Gummo.

When discussing the Stooges, I only include the original trio. Larry was always cast in the long shadow of Mo and the beloved Curley.
I'm only glad he didn't live long enough to read about the unspeakable behavior of his unacknowledged, bastard son, Bernie.

If only it was so simple. I 'm closing in on 80 and was leaving St. John's when TJ was arriving. I could have spent the last 57 or is it 58 year pulling ropes or what ever with little improvement. I would suggest the controlling factor is hand size,

To real fans TJ will always be Tomas Jasilionus.

Tom Jones=TJ

3 stooges in depth discussion just another example of the versatile in depth game thread discussions that happen here that you just can't find anywhere else

I was a big Curley fan. I never liked Shemp

I have a copy of Larry Fine's last will and testament, courtesy of an old friend who figured it would make a novel bday present to me some years ago. As for Joe DiRita and Joe Besser, they were both rightfully the forgotten Stooges since the were both forgettable.

Speaking of fun, there's this band I like called the Weasels, their last record was called Also Sprach Larrythustra. It's some sort of philosophy joke, I don't get it personally but whatever. My avatar is taken from the cover. I'd post a jpeg but I'm not sure what the image tag is in this forum and since the preview function doesn't work I don't want to chance it. Anyway these Weasels have a trilogy of songs about the three great comedic forces of the 20th century, Larries Hovis, Fine and Storch. It's kind of like Wagner's Ring Cycle, except much shorter and much much dumber.

A facsimile or a real non probated copy signed by Fine?

Wow, I actually googled that. Ohwatagoosiam..

Facsimile I'm pretty sure. Certainly not an original.

When Prince Charles married Lady Di I bought a plastic coaster set at Modell's - it was a railroad car diner with sign that said Eat At Joe's where the coasters comprised the body of the diner - and mailed it to them care of Buckingham Palace as a wedding gift. About six months later I got a letter from the British "Minister of Protocol" thanking me for my "marvelous and generous gift." I would have traded you that letter for a signed Fine and that letter is my prized possession.

It may have taken that letter and few Mil for me to give it up if it was an original. Now I have to go dig it out.

I just noticed that Paul Massell's avatar looks like Walter Slezak or am I mistaken? Lifeboat, great movie.

Wow you got it! One of my favorites of all time. Maher's Andean scenario brought it to mind...

The real forgotten Stooge was Joe Besser, who replaced Shemp.

Who?????

To us kids of the 60's Besser was better known as Stinky on the Abbott and Costello show reruns.
