Seton Hall (MSG), Sat., Mar. 1, 2:15p, CBS

I was there!!!

Looie actually wasn't thrilled with the Thompson schtick, apparently, but he didn't show it, a class act.
Not sure if Louie was or wasn't thrilled with Thompson that day BUT in the rematch at the Big East Tournament finals...I'm sitting in the locker room when Coach came in and asked if I had any safety pins? I went to the Knicks training room and grabbed a handful and Coach and I started to attach white shower towels together with them. We must have used about 12 towels and it was as long as a wedding train maybe 12-15 feet long...Lou then takes the first towel, throws it over his shoulder and proceeds to walk on the court imitating Thompson with HIS usual towel on his shoulder. They both got a good laugh at midcourt! Lou had a great sense of humor!

Another time in 1986 at the Big East Tournament luncheon...all the coaches are up on the Dias eating their meals. Players and staff are eating in the ballroom. All the trainers ate together and we all always asked the GTown trainer where she was staying and she just blushed and never answered us. Georgetown was always secretive about what hotel they stayed in for the tournament...Hoya Paranoia was in full mode. So lunch breaks up and Carnesecca asks me to drive him back to campus in his car...he spots Thompson getting into an Asst Coaches car in the MSG parking garage and Lou tells me to "follow them we will find out where they are staying". By the time we got up near the FDR drive toll area heading to Westchester, Lou called off the chase and we headed back to campus! we later found out they were staying up in White Plains near Purchase. Fun times being around Coach!

Next to UConn, the Hall is next on my list of Big East programs I cant stand. More to do with that weasel Willard and our lack of recent success against them, especially at The Rock (although their fans can be as obnoxious as UConn, there's just less of them). Clinching against them on Saturday, even in their current diminished state, is going to be enjoyable. Avenge LJ Figueroa!

When’s the book coming !

As I told Dave, we were all set with Brandon Tierney being the ghost writer but thing went sideways when I retired and left Long Island.
Maybe someday!
We should have a dedicated thread here solely with stories you have because you have GREAT stories ! By far the bus one with Looie cranking up the heat is my favorite because I’m thinking of SJU85 sweating his butt off 😀😀😀

Ken, It was great meeting you there in DC. I'll be at every tournament game no matter where they put us . Even if I had to walk there I wouldn't miss it
Cesar, you da man! The pregame was great and the cheers you led the SJU contingent at Capital One Arena was even better. No coincidence we jumped out to 41-11 lead.
