Seton Hall (MSG), Sat., Mar. 1, 2:15p, CBS

I have been signing on to redman.com for about ten years and had read probably 100 times that winning would cure all the problems SJU had experienced over the past fifteen years or more in fan interest. I was highly doubtful of this. I knew winning would result in an uptick in fans interest but I never imagined it would result in what is happening right now. Those hundred posters were right . Winning ,and this is only after a pretty good year last year and a great three quarters of this year has raised the programs stature to heights I never imagined and so quickly.
Starting with the Villanova close to sellout and continuing to the subsequent sellouts fan interest has been soaring. Not only among students and alumni but sport writers, sportscasters and just many New Yorkers who have no affiliation with SJU. The trust in Pitino is at the top of the charts and has New Yorkers putting SJU right there with the Knicks and over the Rangers and Nets. I am finding this to be both unbelievable and enjoyable.

100s / 200s /bridges sold out.... work do do on the 400s
The dynamics of selling this game out seem a little different. There are a ton of tickets for resale at prices in many cases not much higher than face value. I figure many of these are Seton Hall fans that don't want to see us win the conference. It seems possible that it won't be a complete sellout and there may be more empty sold seats as well. Still will be a great crowd and a game you want to be at.

Echoing GC62, beating Seton Hall on Senior Day and with winning the regular BE season and 26 wins and 19-0 home record is simply a dream come true. For this St. John's fan who began following the team for real in 1970 it is a culmination of all the great times of my fandom. Getting eight of my Brooklyn College (BB players and junkies) buddies and going to see the Redmen at the Garden brings back such great memories.

The highs were high. But then the lows were low. After the Artest Elite Eight (where we wuz robbed), there were only glimmers here or there of good times. Very fleeting.

For Fr. Shaley, Rick Pitino and Mike Repole to bring us this far, this fast is beyond words. So proud and happy to be taking all of the calls, all of the texts and all of the best wishes from friends and family who watched me agonize over the tough times of being a Johnny fan. The worst times were being at the bottom of the Big East and sometimes not being invited to the BET or playing to get into the "real" tournament (and often losing).

Is this too good to be true. No, it is true, and the sky's the limit for this team.

Our '84-'85 Final Four was in Lexington and I did not go. We just had a baby and I thought "We'll be back", I'll go to the next one.

Let's hope this year is "the next one".

In 16 years at Louisville, Rick never had an undefeated home season (hard to belive).

He did it 3 times at Kentucky (90-91, 92-93, and 95-96) and once at Iona (21-22).

So an undefeated home season, assuming we get it on Saturday, is definetly something worth celebrating, in addition to an outright Big East Championship.

especially since the 114 crew has been wearing the same exact clothes ever game until we lose one. The stench is bad

I'm doling out my personal celebrations sparingly. I'm saving them for bigger things to come. It's nice but.. ah what the hell, one more thing to celebrate

For me winning the Big East regular season crown is huge. The NCAA tourney is all about matchups and whose hot, one off day and you're gone. The crown is about a season long achievement. Especially since we haven't won it in 40 years, it is most definitely worth celebrating.
And while BET crown is nice to have, reg season champs is even better ---many times Conference Champions flame out in the Big Dance, and many times early exits in the Conference Tournament bodes well for a long run in the Big Dance, with no rhyme or reason.

I want both (reg season and BET Championships) and a long run in the Big Dance.

This coach and staff and this team have me thinking BIGGER than ever before.

But FIRSTLY, Beat Seton Hall on Saturday.
