Seton Hall - 2nd Game

If Whitehead played last game we probably win. He's a chemistry killer.
The only guard that scares me on SH is Gibbs. He kills us...and he's not playing.

The only other player on the roster that scares me is Delgado, but I think Dom will come out with a chip on his shoulder and we have a new weapon to keep him off the glass: Alibegovic. He inexplicably didn't play at all in the first match up.

Gibbs is not playing becuase he actually tried to kill someone. I think Whitehead getting raw deal. Would you rather be a chemistry killer or Ryan Achdiacccco-however you spell his name killer ?

Arch is 73-21 in his career including only 7 losses in the last 2. I'll take that all day.

Not just Gibbs and Sina but didn't Mobley miss last game with an injury. Hall can still put talent on the floor so take nothing for granted

They will also have the best big man on the court in Delgado. It's no gimme, but our kids know it's a must win and will come out fired up after gtown.

Expect Rysheed to have a monster game Saturday. He's often played his best - especially defensively - when challenged with a premier individual matchup. First saw it with Ennis last year and has happened a number of times since.

This should be a heavy zone game for us, particularly if Obekpa is still hobbled. In addition to them being a really poor shooting team (even moreso now without Gibbs), SHU really spread us out last time and hurt us off dribble pen, and that would only be amplified with a less than 100% Obekpa.

Whatever the net tradeoff from Gibbs to Whitehead may or may not be I really don't care - especially seeing as Whitehead will be motivated to put on a show in this game over any the entire season - as one thing that is certain is Whitehead is just as if not more electric off the dribble as Gibbs is. Carrington hurt us in this respect as well. Delgado was a major beneficiary. They had 18 assists which doesn't happen by accident, we offered driving lanes wider than the Hudson. Pack it in and dare them to take 23 threes (or more) again. Like our chances under those circumstances.

At this point in their careers, you would take Delgado over CO?

Can't make that comparison with a freshmen vs. junior, but I would love to have delgados rebounding on the team.

If Delgado was at SJU Lavin, the posters, his posse and in his own mind he would be a lottery pick.

Another reason this game is huge is because we're trying to eliminate SHU from that 6th spot in the BET to avoid the first day of games. Lose and they're half a game behind us. Win and we're 2.5 games in front. Obviously Marquette and Creighton are eliminated from 6th place and DePaul has a chance but they've been awful lately.

Can you Marillac or.......offer me a review on Alibegovic - I like the little I've seen/heard but need to be informed as to what he's done and the prognosis for what's he's capable of during the balance of this season.
Thanks!

@NYPost_Brazille: D'Angelo Harrison admitted calves are an issue but made it seem like he'll play. #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Steve Lavin said several players have been sick this week, such as Phil Greene, Amar Alibegovic, Myles Stewart, expects them to be ok #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: "I've never had a team with the number of injuries and setbacks and issues [we've had]" -- Steve Lavin #sjubb

@NYPost_Brazille: Think Injuries haven't been quite as bad as Lavin described, but how many Big East games has D'Angelo Harrison actually been healthy? #sjubb

Did Harrison get hurt in the Georgetown game or in practice? He had 33 and 18 the 2 games before

Late first half of the Xavier game. He had 13 of his 18 points by that time.

He's either playing possum or he's covering his behind.

I'd hate to play poker against him.

And the calves and shoulder are old injuries from earlier in the year. I think it's been mentioned that he's been playing hurt since the first Providence game. Not enough to miss games but enough to affect performance. Chris too, though I don't recall when we first started hearing about his ankles.

Imo, other than hitting the occasional corner short jump shot, Obekpa has become less effective each game. I think we are better with Amar on the floor

Yes, Obekpa's injury is addition by subtraction. Amar with a smattering of Balamou and Jones at the center position is a recipe for success.
