Why not. This board is full of "experts." We have an Ivy League atty, an aspiring "journalist" who writes weekly columns and several recruiting "experts" who can evaluate talent without ever seeing a kid play.

As for trivializing coach's prostate cancer, and misunderstanding (common for you) the effects between no longer having a prostate and "drive" and enery in older adult men, let's just say I hope you do not get prostate cancer any time soon. Before you make your bold assumptions have Jack Williams do some forensic research for you into Lavin's many references to the effects his cancer had on him, especially in regard to how his energy was zapped for many months after his surgery.
There are plenty of folks here that have, at least in their past, seen recruits play without the use of 30 second YouTube clips that may have played in the NY region. I think it was one of Moose's pastimes, if I recall. Until a few years ago I had been in more public high school gyms for games than most D1 recruiters. Unfortunately most decent D1 prospects go prep unless they cannot get a sponsor now.
I even followed women's basketball until the Big East was dissolved and the Kentucky of the women's game, Uconn, became a distant memory. What is left is an inferior product imo.
