Rysheed Jordan

Rysheed fell into Lavin's lap?

I will say that, although I haven't been on their boards (where most trolls live), the Nova fans I've met at MSG and on my one trip to Philly for an SJU-Nova game, their fans have been the classiest of (along with PC fans) all the Big East teams.

There are a few idiots on every message board, but there appear to be several level-headed Nova fans that recognize that this new Big East needs good players and good teams. We will at our best when the "Big Boys" of the conference--those with the most visible names like Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's and Marquette--are at their best.

Here is what one Nova fan has to say: "They will easily make it. There remaining schedule, butler, @nova, Xavier, DePaul , @marq , is very accommodating . Has opportunities for resume building wins and also runnable. They are loaded with talent and are finally playing as a team. I look for them to make the top half of the NCAAbracket and be a sleeper team."

Heard the nicest Rysheed Jordan story last night. One of my kid's friends ran into Jordan on the subway a couple of weeks ago - he had an SJU warmup on so was very recognizable. She struck up a conversation with him, told him the she and especially her boyfriend were big fans of his. He said. "Give me his address, and I'll send him something." A few days later a package arrived with a note and an SJU t-shirt. Classy, classy kid, and if I'm not over the top for his play, this cinched it. We have some really great kids on this team, and Jordan is one of them.

As is Dom Pointer.
Two years ago I took my kids to NYC for the DePaul game on campus.
It was on a Monday evening if I recall and started at 9pm.
We arrived at Taffner before noon ( we had left Montreal Sunday evening and drove half way ) and then spent the day at Alumni Hall and Taffner. When we got there Dom was having his knee treated by Ron Linfonte.
My kids who were 11 and 14 at the time spent a while talking to Dom as he received treatment.
When Dom was finished he challenged my older son to a game of one on one and they played together in Taffner for a good hour. David was in heaven playing against Dom.
He is just a great kid.

Great story Beast...interviews on RedStorm report are further evidence that they are good kids

@HolyLandofHoops: I'm of the opinion that @StJohnsBBall Rysheed Jordan deserves to be #BIGEAST freshman of the year.

At this point it's obvious.
Three in a row for Lavin. Now that is a recruiting tool!

When Jordan announced his choice in April, he cited a desire to go away from home, but not too far, among his reasons. Temple coach Fran Dunphy obviously was disappointed, yet spoke very highly of Jordan in a phone interview Friday.

“I think he has all the ingredients necessary to be just a very, very special player,” Dunphy said. “He’s No. 1 very competitive. He’s very long, he’s very quick, he’s very strong. I think he’s a good teammate, I think he takes care of his team -- I don’t think he has a lot of personal concern, it’s not like he thinks of himself first. I do think he truly thinks of the team first.”

Rysheed's Aunt passed away today. Thoughts and prayers for him as he has to deal with more adversity. Kid is one strong freshman.

Was she murdered? Was this a part of the killing that happened in north philly today?

I'm not completely sure, but I would have to think they are both connected. Sheed posted a picture of his aunt along with some words about her on his Instagram.

I thought this was a great video and you really heard the truth about him from the players views. Kinda makes it seem like everything that we hear about him is not really a big deal to anybody but us fans. They all love and respect each other and they know that he is growing up right in front of them. My favorite part was when DLo said something about him going through some growing pains but he knows that Sheed will be fine and he can do it. Also I liked how Sheed mentioned that he wants to support his family and help the rec centers in his neighborhood to have camps hat he wasn't able to have. Great overall feature to give us a little bit of what Sheed is like.

Crap heart skipped a beat when I saw sheeds name at the top of recent topics. Thought I was going to open and see suspended.
