Rysheed Jordan

Great pick up for the program filling a most important need. Unfortunately there is no rest for the staff as they have to be back on the recruiting trail to pick up players to replcace Sanchez and most probably Sampson for the season after next. I am assuming that Obekpa stays and will still need work on his offensive repertoire.

I can also see Jordan and Branch playing together at the same time as Jordan seems to be a prolific scorer and we have not seen the best of Branch yet. I think that Branch and Balamou will surprise a lot of fans next year. Lavin may often use Balamou in the three spot where quickness is needed over size as he holds his own on the boards.

Anyway great pickup and some welcomed good news for a change.

What is unfortunate about having to replenish a college roster; it is the nature of the business to be sure. Almost like saying it is unfortunate I have to stop to put gas in my car.

Balamou has to score in order to get maximum minutes; actually Pointer will warrant more playing time. Upfront is pretty well covered by the likes of Sanchez, Sampson, Obekpa and God's Gift.

If you buy into the concept of a fast moving athletic pressure team then Balamou has to get some minutes. He is quicker then almost everyone on the team and is a great athlete to boot. I think that everyone is underestimating his ability as a basketball player as well. He sees the court well, does not force the action and plays within himself . He also does exactly what the Staff asks him to do. And remember how often did he make a great block, snare a rebound and make a put back? If given the chance this kid will be very good.

Some high praise being handed out to Lavin yesterday from the UCLA press before Jordan's announcement.
Words like "amayzing recruiter" and "Lavin landed the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class twice, and coached eventual NBA players like Baron Davis, Trevor Ariza, Matt Barnes and Ryan Hollins" are being written in the LA press. Tough for even UCLA to go up against.
Its very rare for UCLA fans to praise Lavin They like to use words like snakeoil salesman and fraud. I read a post where the poster said Lavin could recruit the players, but he cant coach them. I would like us to meet UCLA in the NCAA tourny, kick their butt and really give them something to talk about.

At what position? I like the kids hustle and athleticism also, but he's to small to play the 3 and not skilled enough to play the 2 at this level. If he were 6'5"-6'-6" I would agree with you, but not at 6'2". Maybe he gets a few minutes per game off the bench, but that's about it. Unless of course he's a casualty of the numbers game, which is a possibility.

I met a guy a few months ago who was one of Dunphy's best players during his tenure at Penn, and he absolutely gushed over what an amazing coach he is, going so far as to say he is a future HOFer. Lavin winning the recruiting war for this kid vs. Temple is no small achievement, givent hat Temple didn't end up as a finalist by accident. Great job overall by our staff.

This is one of those watershed days for a program. We get a very good, perhaps great player who fills a massive need. We need someone who can get in the paint off the dribble! Now we have that someone! Great choice by RJ and congrats to Lav and the staff. By the way, if anyone has a YouTube clip of his announcement on espnU that would be phenomenal.

Watched ES.PNU signing day yesterday. They should have called .Kentucky hour Jordan was mentioned for total . of 20 seconds I understand K has 4 # one at their positions and they have the best recruiting class ever but it was somewhat depressing for those not in the top 5 classes

This team is so loaded I'd look to possibly redshirt one or two guys. Jones and Balamou perhaps.

then we end up with games where we start walk-ons. people are too quick to say we should redshirt players. let them get a chance. you never know whats gonna happen during the season

I had a sneaky feeling that Lavin knew he would land Rysheed. Great job, reminds everyone that Lavin takes a back seat to no one.
Still landed Jordan despite the new Big East, old Big East, ACC Big East disaster.

I mentioned last week when Garrett left felt Coach needed that ship because he knew RJ was coming Thinks are looking up but we should not get over. confident but we are going in the right direction

Actually they showed Jordan twice, once in the very beginning and at the end of the show.

It was the latter part of the show when Telep stated the quote I posted, yesterday.

I wouldn't. With Rysheed (a top 25 recruit), it shows our recruiting target level is rising. Redshirts for Jones and Balamou would mean two rides for the 2017 season that wouldn't be there. For all we know, one of those rides MIGHT go to Thon Maker.

Excellent point. If you a bee upgrading your recruiting why would you want to keep what you perceive as non impact players longer then they have to be. Although I dont believe that is the case with Felix. That's what I just don't get about the Gods Gift intubation. It seemed to be perceived by many that he was not that good, although now those same posters are touting him as a significant addition in our rise to top 10 status.

I don't think the roster is comPlete yet.... We are involved 2013 impact big man.... Either IMHO
Gift goes or Marco goes to play overseas
