Rysheed Jordan

From ESPN Rumor Central. No mention of STJ

ESPNU Super 60 point guard Rysheed Jordan (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux Roberts) may not have officially whittled down his list of schools, but the Gary Payton-clone tells The Baltimore Sun that six schools are showing the most interest: Maryland, Temple, Villanova, Seton Hall, La Salle and Drexel.

 Think this ship has sailed

College programs definitely know who the kid is. Temple, La Salle, Drexel, Pittsburgh, Kansas, Alabama, Virginia, Villanova, Seton Hall and Penn State have all been involved

You could sense the ship had sailed with Jordan about a month ago. I'm assuming the staff feels good about what we currently have and what we could end up getting in '14 (Whitehead or Jackson-Cartwright).

Rysheed's definitely going to want major playing time.

Not sure with our depth if we're a good fit. Even though we're thin at PG, I imagine he's going to want to start as a freshmen.

Per NBE Basketball....

Top Performance of the Day:

Rysheed Jordan (Philly Pride 2013) – An electric scoring combo guard, Jordan played in two games on Wednesday night and was the best player on the floor in both including a matchup with Team Final that featured a bunch of high major talent. While Jordan refers to himself as a combo guard it’s his ability at the point that stands out to me. He has unique athleticism for someone running the show and is able to use his physical advantages to explode past defenders and work his way into the paint. Jordan is best in the open floor when his physical tools can shine and his vision in high paced action also stands out. He has a great feel for the action in an up and down game and has a way of gliding through traffic and creating angles with his speed. In half court sets, Jordan punished defenders for playing off him by knocking down deep jumpers and then blew past them when they tried to press up on him. His decision making and knowledge of how to efficiently run a team still need work but Jordan’s physical tools already make him a high major priority.

Per The Recruit Scoop (Alex Kline)....

Jordan says the schools coming at him the hardest right now are Temple, Villanova, La Salle, Seton Hall, Maryland, Kansas, St. John's, UCLA, UNLV, Syracuse, Rutgers, Xavier and Pittsburgh. Look for the No. 16 player in the Rivals150 for 2013 to cut his list down to around seven or eight schools come August and ultimately decide on a college before the high school season starts.

I know Moose mentioned the staff may target 2014 for a PG, like Zabo. But if Jordan wants to play here, I would be very surprised if the staff pulls back. All reports you hear and read make it sound like he is the goods.

They could very well target a PG for 2014 (ie, Zabo, Whitehead), but I do know they haven't given up on Jordan.

Staff is definitely hard after Jordan still. There seem to be a handful of 13 candidates because we know the lack of ships.

I still stand by my guess that our next PG is in the '14 class.

I've been following the Jordan recruiting process from the points SJ's and MD got involved. Turgeon and the staff have been acting like he's their #1 priority, even though the Under Armour twins are the lead dominoes. Interestingly, when the twins put off their decision, Rysheed also put his back later than the twins. It might be coincidence, it might be because he likes the MD a lot (which he's said numerous times regarding the campus, Comcast Ctr, etc.), or just that he's hoping to get more options this summer. Well, he just did with UCLA now lurking, and Rysheed backing off his long time "stay close to home" stance.

I think Lavs and staff should stay in it. At the end of the day, I believed a MD or St. John's could get Rysheed out of a dire need at the point. I felt Jordan would stay close to home, but get away a bit at a school a few hours away that is still close to home. The monkey wrench came when Temple jumped to the Beast. Rysheed's there all the time, tweeting every time he's over there, so that threw my theory off a bit. I thought he was staying home.

Branch provides some comfort, but it is my opinion after watching some of Rysheed video (game clips, not just highlights), he will be a very good distributor at PG and as good as Branch, if not better. As with many top players at the point who have their way in HS in getting to the rack, Rysheed will need to develop his jumper a bit more for high D1.

Side Note: I had followed Roddy Peters closely last season as he loves UMD, but Roddy had yet to get the Terps offer. Now Peters took off in his recent Rysheed matchup, and the offers poured in - MD offered. So MD is in good shape to get at least one PG for 2013 that they so badly need. Obviously, the twins totally change their squad and recruiting profile. I am hoping a Bazz type moment comes and they "defend" their UA support, but one never knows.

Rysheed - at this point, he is wide open as far I'm concerned.
