@Rutgers, Fri. Nov. 16, 7pm, BTN / 970 WNYM

Rutgers is shooting 55% from 3, ranked #1 in the NCAA (only 2 games).Thats why they have dominated their first 2 games. Not because tod their size. St John’s guards need to dominate this game, both ends. If they do we win.
I didn't realize how big Rutgers was until I looked at the link to the roster on Knight's post. This will be interesting.
Every team in the BIG recruits and signs bigs. We have a lot of catching up to do.

So now we judge teams on how many 7 footers they have. Since Rutgers was picked dead last in the B10 that means 14 teams in the B10 have more 7 footers than they do?
I'm sure most teams in the BigTen has more size then us.
Yeah I know Tyrone Grant was the center at 6-7 on that team, but what's this teams hand quickness compared to that team? Everyone had quick hands on defense. And, why did we lose to osu in the elite 8???
Not because of Redd or Penn, we lost to their center Ken Johnson swatting away 12-13 balls.

To me they won that game because their big dominated, while we had no big.
What was Ken, 6-11?
So then why did the coaches pick SJU 4th and Rutgers dead last in the B10?

Let's be clear SJU should win this game, period. If they are going to be the team we think and hope they can be they should win, period.

I dont care how many 7 footers Rutgers has in 3 months they will be mired in a 10 game losing streak in the B10 and no one will care.

Go F'n win the game.
Yeah I hear you, just wish we had some size to help our guards out.
Well we'll see how it turns out in 48hrs.

Bingo. Neither of the teams they played have even remotely the caliber of guards that SJU will show them on Friday-Ponds, Heron, Simon and Dixon.

St. John's wins by 5. Simon has an excellent game and Roberts gets 4-5 minutes PT.
I would disagree with the consensus on one point, Rutgers will not be "up" for this game any more than any other. Pikell is an outstanding coach and they play hard and focused every game. The idea that we are a "big game" for them; I just don't see it. Will it be a tough game, you bet. All our games are until we prove otherwise the only place it counts, on the court.
You read that article Logen? Seems like they are super amped to play us:

“It’s exciting. This is what we came here for,” sophomore guard Geo Baker said. “There’s been a lot of buzz about this season and this game. I think the crowd will be amazing — I have no doubt.”

“They’re good; everybody knows they’re good,” Rutgers guard Pete Kiss said. “We’re good. So I’m looking forward to playing that basketball game.”

“I’m having trouble sleeping at night,” said freshman Ron Harper Jr.,

Sounds like Ron Harper's son needs some Melatonin

My memory is that Ty Grant was injured for that OSU game.

Was that the game he played in a cast?

After the game, Jarvis was interviewed. Anthony Glover was a Prop 48 casualty that year and couldn't play. Jarvis said that Ken Johnson could never had been so dominant if Glover had played. So the next year comes and sure enough, Johnson dominated again with double digit blocks with Glover on the floor.

At 6'4 what did Jarvii expect Glover to do punch him in the nuts?

LMAO!!

The oddsmakers have spoken. Rutgers is a 4.5 point underdog against St. John’s tomorrow night, according to @betonline_ag #GardenStatement

More worry to grind through the grist mill...swatted shots, rebounds, and the 3-pt %-age against us.
Got to play intense D, run a greyhound offense, force turnovers, turn those to points, and team-rebound.
We'll be in trouble If it becomes a half-court game.

What a sweet and timely “W” this would be especially because there’s been so much gloom and concern about our team.
Go Storm!
