@Rutgers, Fri. Nov. 16, 7pm, BTN / 970 WNYM

I’m worried about our defense. Pikiell will want to hammer the ball to the post which is our weakness, and with our help-D sucking to the post, Rutgers having open shots on the perimeter all day.

Our only chance with that kind of stuff is
Aggressive denial of entry passes into the post, and keeping our feet active when guarding the perimeter. Make them beat us by trying to earn shots inside, not easy threes.

We also need to pressure their entry into the front court and make their offense rush. Lavin’s teams did a really good job of 3/4 court pressure on opposing team’s, which made them hurry their offense when they finally got it over mid-court. We have better guards and need to work them hard to get the ball anywhere. On offense, we have to go to the hole and draw fouls. Play smart and we certainly have more talent and should win.

Agree. We can't overcompensate defensively for lack of size with extreme over-help which has often been the case the last few years and continued into the early part of this year.

With the emphasis on the 3 and the amount of teams that have 3-5 guys that can shoot it on the floor at the same time, sometimes a contested shot at the rim is preferable to a wide open 3. In my opinion we don't take enough chances with contested shots at the rim, bringing 2 and even 3 guys, which takes the rim away but leaves us totally exposed beyond the 3 line.

Think we need to adjust this based upon who we are playing and strike more of a balance here. Big reason why teams have shot it so well from 3 against us last few years. And when I say so well I mean a rate that seems almost unsustainable game to game / team to team as was the case for a lot of last year, and can be crippling in closely contested games.
The reality is that this is a Big Ten team and if you hope to compete strongly in the Big East, these are games you must win. If they can't beat Rutgers, they either need to improve a heck of a lot over the next month, or our season is likely to be rough.

Injury to Keita or not, we put 5 athletic guys on the floor who must take advantage of their superior quickness, athleticism and talent. Cannot be afraid of games like this. A loss would be a wakeup call, so our guys had better be ready. A win is not assured, and tonight is an opportunity to serve notice that even without a center this is a pretty good squad
Agree ......without Keita our season is likely to be a rough one. However, the wake up call was last season when we lost 11 games in a row. There we were missing a 5'9 guard. This year we are missing anyone over 6'7. Every year there is a constant and that is we color our view with a perceived key player missing. Without Matt Abdelmassih this program would be in deep shit and recruiting preferred walk ons.

Again I must have missed the impact Keita was going to make during the 5 minutes he played.

In football!

Here is the key to winning this game, drive to the hoop score ,be fouled or dish to a wing to shoot or to a gusted. Also pressure all game and give Roberts some mins use an 8 man rotation wear them down

Is there any way to watch this game?
It’s on the Big 10 Network.
If you don't have that network, an easy option would be to sign for YouTube TV for a free trial and cancel it.
watch from your tv, phone or laptop

we need this game bad tonight! im a little worried about playing in the RAC we have never fared well there! Im hoping Shamorie and Heron go off.....

Looking forward to this game, tough place to play and Rutgers will be up for the game but I think we will take care of Business Tonight! Yes they have more height then we do but we have way more talent and I think our guys will be equally pumped for this game. For anyone with optimum the game is on channel 247 Big ten network.

Everyone keeps taking shots at Mullin coaching ability hopefully he starts to prove everyone wrong soon!
