You're correct.Curious that Shamorie would post this mild critique of RJ's decision. Ironically, not sure Ponds could survive CRP's sysyem. He was a crazy talented player, but not a gym rat from what I've been told.
Thought it was Outer Mongolia. You're correct.
Maybe he's matured and realized it after all these years playing in Mongolia.
In fairness he did not have the best support system of any player ever. With Pitino he would have been a BE POY. Today's comp is Kam Jones, basicallyYou're correct.

If Ponds had Kams intensity and was the same teammate as Kam, he would have been the NPOY.In fairness he did not have the best support system of any player ever. With Pitino he would have been a BE POY. Today's comp is Kam Jones, basically
Possibly also true if Ponds had Kam's teammates. If Ponds had Kams intensity and was the same teammate as Kam, he would have been the NPOY.
Ponds junior year 2-5 I’d put against Marquette’s 100%Possibly also true if Ponds had Kam's teammates.
Look I know what the issues were with him. But he had a world of talent and a coach who didn't believe in coaching.
Would like to believe that with proper coaching he would have gone farther.
Shamorie had a lot of unrealized potential and not sure it’s fair to blame it all on his coach and/or his teammates imho.Possibly also true if Ponds had Kam's teammates.

Not for nothing, but doesn't Ponds have a year of eligibility left??You're correct.

That was Vinnie Barbarino !Who was the TV character that used to put his face in his hands and lament I’m so confused?
Thank you! Now it comes back to me. When I went to law school at U of Dayton in 1978 I immediately became friends with a couple of guys from Pittsburgh who said an Italian from NY has to be named Vinnie because of that show so I was called Vinnie by some fellow class mates for 3 years. That was Vinnie Barbarino !
He can return, but he's not returning. Your assessment is a fair one. He'll have to collectively be replaced and not replaced by one player. So much nonsense flying around. Can someone confirm if RJ can return to SJU if he chooses to return to college game? And for those who say he is replaceable are nuts. 2 year player in system who exploded this year. Can get his shot and really started to rebound ball and defense improved. Vision improved as year went on contrary to what people think.. all new players take time to adapt to new school especially a demanding one like Pitino. these type players don’t grow on trees. We would be lucky to get him back and hit ground running with Zuby/RJ combo and make another run at it with some nice additions to balance out team.
Anthony Mattia said it right. Good Luck RJ!RJ is a really nice young man, a very good basketball player and has a great family (got to meet them in the Bahamas). He was the POY on our best team in decades. I wish him nothing but the best because he gave us his all and a season of smiles.
Good luck RJ!
