Worst news. R.I.P. Coach
That’s very sad news. Louie had a legendary long life. God rest his soul.
When I was an undergraduate, in the height of his tenure, I went to Alumni Hall several times to watch practice. Several times I had occasion to cross paths with him and he was always gracious and patient greeting and chatting briefly. Wonderful man and ambassador for the school. A throwback. God rest his soul and prayers to his family.

I became a fan after Lou’s time here. And during that time as a fan, SJU has ranged from “ready to break through” at its best, and “oh yeah, what happened to them” at their most. But even just his presence alone, in the stands or in video, Coach Carnesecca always gave SJU such a sense of legitimacy. It was so cool as a young kid to see the reverence and respect that he was given from EVERYBODY, and then you saw him talk and you completely understood why. Forever a peacock!

Such sad news one of the truly greatest human beings ever. My freshman year I passed him by and said hey Coach huge fan been going to games since I was a kid he stopped and talked to me for like ten minutes about the school just an amazing man. We lost a legend!
