I always felt Pitino early on embraced three point shooting inclusion, while some experienced coaches like Looie kind of looked at it as a fad. NIL is another change that Rick adapted to, while many of his experienced peers ran from it.

I remember an article about Providence's new HC, a kid barely into his 30s. When the 3 pt shot was announced, at 19'9", he measured that distance from the rim and started taking jump shots from that now shorter distance. He then proclaimed, " We are taking lots of threes this year!"
