I was referring to those who were blaming and criticizing Coach Carnesecca for the failure of past coaches, and claiming that he was too old and out of touch to be involved in any search for a new coach. Now that he is endorsing everyone's favorite Pitino, his opinion has relevance.

I’m on this site quite a bit and have not personally seen anyone do that, but regardless, there’s a difference between Louie being actively involved in the search and him giving a take about a guy he probably already knows will be the next coach.

A reporter probably reached out to him for a comment and he gave them one. That doesn’t signal he’s involved in the process to me
 
when this is official, will it be announced with the "?" removed from this thread title?
 
I have done a remarkable job with the reverse jinx so going to keep it going. The Mets losing their most irreplaceable player jumping up and down in a meaningless game is a quintessential Met thing.
Pitino at a Wednesday press conference announcing he is going somewhere else is likewise for ST John’s.

I was not suggesting that you do anything to the contrary. I meant after the big announcement. This is almost as exciting as that scene in Godfellas when Tommy was being made. Oh wait...
 
I am very excited at the prospect of Rick Pitino as HC of SJU. His connections and the ability to get kids to want to play for him. He will bring the ability to bring in revenue avenues from Wall Street and Alumni. I currently do not see a downside to this hire at all. The NIL rules eliminate a lot of potential recruiting violations that schools can incur and I think the school will do a great job getting a legitimate NIL program in place for student athletes.

Facility wise, I will be looking forward to seeing what improvements can be made on campus.

Its just a very exciting time for the Program, Students and Fans.

Repole coming back to The Program cannot be overstated enough...He and Pitino have a relationship outside of basketball and both want to see St Johns return to glory...

At age 60, it's all coming together for my favorite lifetime teams...Jets getting a QB Rodgers; St Johns getting a stud coach Pitino; and Uncle Stevie in charge of the Mets...life is good!

Exactly Jack. I don't believe he was involved in the process either. As for his comment to a reporter, what was he going to say? Publicly he's going to support whatever decision the school makes, whether he agrees with it 100% or not. My comment was made tongue in cheek. I guess my friend Panther didn't see the humor in it.
