I believe the conference is contemplating acting in unison. You may or may not have confidence in the Big East conference leadership being able to affect change but can you suggest a better path? Obviously even the attempt at objective rating systems for teams is flawed and subjective so at large selections can not be challenged in a court of law.
You appear to have some expertise here, so other than a vote of no confidence in Shanley, Oliva, and the athletic department and all Big East schools pressuring the NCAA for a fairer system. What would you do?
My point was there wasn't wasn't whining and moaning but the conference as a whole is acting. Where it goes and what leverage they have, we will see.
Don't believe any of that for a second. I hope I am wrong but I would be curious to know what exactly is the BE able to bring to the table to force such changes? What exactly is their leverage? And if they had that kind of leverage why wait until you get screwed to apply it, why not step up in a leadership role before the fact, not after?
And what exactly does “fairly represented in all post season tournaments” even MEAN when multiple subjective criteria is used by a committee to subjectively select those “worthy” of being chosen. Has the BE come up with a completely foolproof objective criteria to take the human element out of selection? And besides, since there are essentially only two “all post season tournaments” and the BE has 8 teams in the two, they are “fairly represented“, just most of them were thrown the crumbs of the JV tournament.
If the BE wanted the NCAA to truly hear ”loudly and firmly” they would have grabbed a microphone and podium immediately and publicly let them know their feelings about getting screwed by selective, self serving, agenda driven application of criteria to justify a royal screw job. This needed to be fought in the court of public opinion, plain and simple because that is where the conference got taken to the cleaners, in public, on national TV. You get bullied, fight or flight, and IMO the BE administrators couldn’t run away quick enough to formulate their ineffectual, after the fact public statements. And evidently, go into committee mode to “formulate a response” that in my mind is nothing more than PR nonsense.
The vote of no confidence should be done at the Conference level and its leadership. As we are witnessing, in this ever evolving landscape every school and conference is positioning for what lays ahead. It is just a matter of time before UConn bails on BE. The lack of action and vision is astounding and the fallout will be severe. Ask the Pac12 how playing it safe worked out for them!
The selection committee actions spoke volumes about what they think of the BE Conference as it stands today and potentially long term. Hope the Presidents received that clear message!

Rick has NOT delivered on everything I hoped he would. The goal was the Ncaa tournament and he failed. I don't blame him for it...but he failed.
More nonsense from you, I was very clear what I think should have been done, certainly not running to PR people to release mealy mouthed, say nothing press releases. I asked you in all your wisdom and inside info for a simple piece of information, what leverage the BE has to ensure this dramatic change in selection process you describe and you answer with the same thing the BE did, say nothing nonsense.
And it absolutely laughable that you that end your reply with “so no one should say anything” because there is saying things that have bite and meaning and express the outrage worthy of leaders who get stomped and saying things hiding in a corner that have neither and the latter is exactly what the BE administration has done.
I haven’t seen the Van news picked up by anyone. Obviously he seemed like the odd man out, especially in game coaching but he’s a great representative of the school and very respected by all. Wish him luck in whatever he chooses.

Why should you even care about the univversity asking for continued support when you aren't a ticket holder, aren't a supporter, nor an alum of the school. You're certainly not in our target audience, so nobody is asking you for money, yet you are outraged by that. Cragg's letter wasn't sent to you nor directed at you.
I originally posted because I am in constant contact with the school, am affiliated in several ways, and often post things that I am aware of that are not confidential yet few people know.
But mainly I posted in response to someone calling Cragg an idiot. Thank God only one or two others piled onto that. Two years ago i took an entire year off this place when in the aftermath of the brutal last second loss to Villanova, "fans" were calling sju players "chokers" and "losers".
I mean geez, you are over 70 years old and claim to run a successful business. Don't you have better things to do than bash at every turn.
I just have more faith in reoresentatives from 11 Big East schools, all college educated, most with post grad degrees and tons of experiences that they won't need help from you.
You've said sju is mom and pop. That's such a ridiculous thingbto assert when the board of trustees, including jsj have collectively more smarts and career success than any of us.

And you are right, I am not “nice”, I speak my mind and unlike people like you will stand up and acknowledge when I am wrong, that’s the way it is when you are willing to put genuine thoughts out there. The “nicest” people I have ever met were golden tongued con men, I learned to identify them a long time ago.

I'm just glad that through the kindness of a fellow redfans poster I was able to get in a March Madness pool so I have something to distract me from all the negativity on the board right now. I get it, we're all pissed the NCAA committee screwed us but don't see the point of taking it out on each other. Aa pissed as I am, I'll still enjoy watching both the NIT and NCAA tourneys and scratching off my picks as they get knocked out one by one.
If there was a Lady Bing award here, you would get my vote every year. That is intended as a compliment. If anyone else mentioned enjoying the NIT I would assume they were being sarcastic!
