Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

RJ can be frustrating, but he was the most physically gifted player on this year's team. We should try to bring him back at all costs.

Taylor has leadership qualities, but he lost confidence around mid-season, and his game suffered. He recovered towards the end. Would take him back, but need better talent around him.

I want the other three back as well, as of now. Zuby needs to work on his offensive game. Wilcher needs to work on a bit of everything offensively, to be honest, but he's not too far away.

Dunlap is the one I'm conflicted on. If he can get more arch on his shot, he becomes a great weapon. If he can't, then we're probably better off looking to go eleswhere for outside shooting, and Dunlap does not really bring anything else to the table.
Have to disagree big time on Dunlap, he has developed into a very good defensive player, Pitino put him on Spencer for the 5 minutes he played Friday and he did a nice job denying him the ball. Plus his hustle was what turned the tide of the first half. Agree on the flat shot but I think he has a very bright future.

totally agree with you and the kid is a coaches dream as far as being coachable

In addition he has a nice knack for rebounding and handled him self well under pressure, never looking scared with the ball. When he gets comfortable as the shooter he’s capable, he’ll be a great all around price.

You can see he is a son of a coach w little things like cutting w/o ball, feeding the post and always scrapping, rebounding. His shooting form is fine and confident he will shoot with more arc. I think with added strength and experience he will be a very good player here.

Dunlap seemed to be more comfortable on the floor at the end of the season
At first, he was purely a shooter but played much better (defense, rebounding and diving after loose balls) late in the season
Pack on a few pounds and some muscle and he will be an asset to the program in the years ahead

I agree. He’s such a positive kid and he and Sim seem to have a real bond, which is important in retaining both. I’d rather keep Dunlap than Taylor, who I also like. But Taylor is a role player at St. John’s and he might understand that. In a year or two, Brady could be a star.

Dunlap also is one the team’s best passers, especially into the low post.

I found this more interesting: “St. John’s is a very difficult job on so many fronts, much more difficult than I ever imagined,” Pitino said on Sunday night, citing the lack of on-campus facilities and not having a campus community to be “immersed” in the team. “But what makes St. John’s great is that it is New York, it is Madison Square Garden, it is the Big East. I’ve been through it all, the highs and the lows of life, and coaching at St. John’s is a very, very difficult place to coach, but also an extremely rewarding place in building something special.”

Hopefully Pitino makes the job less difficult by the time he's done here.

I love that suggestion! Not to mention Boeheim mentored CRP, and Coach K and Mike C are close, and both respect the heck out of St. John's basketball.

Beyond that these are three of the greatest coaches of all time and know how challenging play is in a strong conference.

Here's what I can tell you guys. The word from St. John’s is that this cannot happen again.

SJU and all member Big East schools have already met to begin to formulate a response to insure that our conference is fairly represented in all post season tournaments. Rick certainly has a seat in internal discussions and Even though this may not be an idea that flies, the NCAA will hesr loudly and firmly from the big east with changes put in place for future selections.

Sorry, have no trust in the leadership to actually impact anything at the NCAA or with the committee. Not sure what "changes put in place" means? They are not the decision makers and it was made obvious this year they have no respect or leverage with those that are!
