Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Saw Cooley with his wife (it better be!) in Moynihan Hall skulking out of town. With all his money I thought he would charter himself a plane.

Without naming names there were two players I wanted to see transfer after last year. And that was not basketball related. That is the first time I have ever wanted anyone to transfer, including guys on the end of the bench.

I have come to accept though, it’s going to happen, early and often now.

And he will become beloved here from that day forward.
I think it would be good for board activity if Luis is gone next year. The “Keeping Up with Old Friends” thread will remain relevant with high major starters, we can always second guess roster construction, and bring him up whenever we miss someone having the ability to take over a game.

I’m gonna guess and say they are impulse shoppers as well. 😎
No, we watched his nonsensical play. We saw his talent used negatively, not positively which was the case down the stretch big time today. I have seen tons of players with talent who never developed and came anywhere close to maximizing it.
People, including me, present opinions at points in time in venues like this, and can be wrong. Luis had a tremendous 5 minute stretch that gave a glimpse of what he could be, that I take as a “what might be” not a “what is” and said so.
Finally, this board has been a living embodiment of the over estimation of players abilities and potential for decades.

I really try to refrain from bding critical of fans who have in turn been highly critical of players who didn't perform well or were shorter on talent or physical attributes.

The reason for that is I know I've gone overboard supporting players talents, understanding sports provides ample opportunities for good and bad days, and having faith that these gifted 18-23 year olds will rise again after bad stretches or games.

I know I'm not as attentive so never saw disinterest from our players, occasionally did see laziness in not getting back, and really didn't think our kids put themselves above team.

We always like to think we have great kids and it's not always true, but this season I don't think we had any player techs for mouthing off to refs or vulgar displays - just those shoving matches where both players got t'd. Give credit to coaches for recruiting disciplined players or molding them that way.

For his part, though always getting his two cents in, Rick rarely crossed the line to get T'd, and I suspect that in those rare instances tried to earn one.

All I want is Luis to play within the team framework.

He is ultra talented but hero ball, which he can fall into at times, is not in the team’s best interest in getting to that next level that you see consistently at Creighton and Marquette.

Much like in Butler game there was another fast break yesterday in the 1st half where he clearly had teammate wide open for layup but took a contested attempt, lucky to be saved by ref whistle.

Luis is a difference maker. We need him to play like he did in the second half. Great defense, some decent passes and some nice baskets.
I understand the frustration with him. But the potential is real to be playing the next level. Just needs to refine it.

All valid observations.

Keep in mind the post you responded to was said tongue in cheek.
