I also send some apologies to Marillac who was stressing the lack of speed at guard position this year. Sitting at UBS yesterday I was thinking, Walter Clayton Jr. would have destroyed that Seton Hall double team of our guards at top of key all day long.
Alleyne and Dingle way too slow for Big East play. Alleyne better suited for smaller specialist role like at UCONN and not guarding other teams lead guards
Yes that too. The handles are weakIt's not Alleyne's and Dingle's lack of speed; it's more so their inability to handle the basketball.
So who will be in the backcourt with Glover? We need a real 1 to feed him and the kid from Greece. Lots of work to do off season.Yes that too. The handles are weak
i needed to read something like this... thank youI think Coach has learned a LOT this season and will not make the same mistakes regarding who he recruits. We will be a top 20 team next season. You heard it here first!
Sometimes you just need the guys. What coaching adjustments would you like him to make? This group is just so limited, and not consistent enough each possession. You can’t get that creative with this roster. He would know, he’s been coaching 50 years.I'm waiting for Pitino to make his MSJGA (Make St. John's Great Again) speech. I'm most disappointed in the lack of coaching adjustments. Did he not recognize that his roster was slow-a-foot early in the season?
Offensively, there was probably not much he could do.Sometimes you just need the guys. What coaching adjustments would you like him to make? Let’s start with free throw instruction .Sometimes you just need the guys. What coaching adjustments would you like him to make? This group is just so limited, and not consistent enough each possession. You can’t get that creative with this roster. He would know, he’s been coaching 50 years.
The main fault I have is with the presser yesterday in which he did not take accountability for the roster. I would think though that that he knows it’s on him and he won’t let that happen again.
In terms of coaching, this team is “not good” and he’s made them “decent”. When was the last time we were top 40 in KenPom and top 50 in NET. He accomplished that with a roster that really can’t shoot and has many defensive deficiencies.
He will get the guys next year. Keep an eye out on High Major guys this time around in transfer portal
We're at 70.5%. While that could be a little better, that's acceptable for me, although just barely (our opponents are at 73%, which is better, but not by a ton).Let’s start with free throw instruction .
Zone defense has man to man principles.Offensively, there was probably not much he could do.
After the UCONN game, he said, "my assistants always want me to play more zone, but we have to work on our man-to-man." Really, coach? You're that closed minded? This is not a good one-on-one team, and if it's because of lack of speed, that's not going to get better, so it's up to you to minimize that as much as you can. The defense he is playing almost demands speedy players.
Not all five guys, though, and not all the time.Zone defense has man to man principles.
We don’t have the personnel to do that stuff. Not all five guys, though, and not all the time.
The zone can also be played many different ways, plus box and one, or triangle in two, which I consider to be forms of zone.
