Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

Rick Pitno is not leaving. He is at his last job at home. He is intelligent enough to learn from his mistakes.
Well therein lies the rub.
Does Pitino think he did make any mistakes? Or does he believe like a bunch on here that he is incapable of making mistakes.

I agree if he feels he did have a few missteps, he will correct and move forward. If he feels this is crumbling through no fault of his own and this is a lost cause…….

I can’t find the quotes but I’m pretty sure he’s already admitted to some mistakes & learning from them for this upcoming recruiting season.

Remember this.... Some people are more invested in looking or being right regarding their pessimistic predictions rather than the team rising above their cynical analysis.
If aimed at me, nah. Been right long enough. Would like to be wrong when it comes to ST John’s for once.

You don’t get to be as good as Pitino by not accepting and learning from your mistakes. I bet he could fill up several pages of things he’d do differently. That makes him very dangerous next year.

You can see the difference in talent from the old leaders on the team to the young guys. It’s night and day. They kids just aren’t ready yet.

I fell into this trap as well...Our expectations will certainly be tempered on recruits and transfers.

Specifically regarding Dingle and Ledlum... 23 / 18 ppg at Penn and Harvard... i thought we were getting two certified Studs. Didn't think IVY comp was thhhaaat below par... Princeton made it to the Sweet 16 last yr... Dingle had NBA workouts and Ledlum was on Tennessee prior to re-transferring to us...

Wilcher- UNC top 30 recruit- thought he would produce more than he has...

I will certainly be more cautious this offseason in regards to expectations...
Tell ya what, I don't give a crap what anyone says on here anymore about players in the portal. They can say oh he's the next MJ and I'm not going to care untilI see him on the court.

Every year people on here do hyper bowl, about oh this guy is the real deal and he avg this many pnts, and this amount of assts and boards. Then I start believing in the hype, then what happens? It's like smack smack smack I'm an idiot for believing it, can't fault them for hyping players up, it's my fault for believing without seeing.

All I can say is I hope Rick does a better job of getting players in the portal, then he did this year.

The press conference yesterday still bothers me 10x more than the actual game does. This year was always a house money type year, aim to just make the tournament and would be ecstatic with exorcising the demons of maybe winning a tournament game and finally seeing Friday night of the BET.

I had always been super confident about the future because Pitino had always been, up until yesterday. His matter of fact tone when stating that this program will "get there" despite being general coachspeak had given me confidence that Pitino's ultimate plan was coming together behind the scenes.

Could just be frustration after another loss during a rough patch but Pitino expressing doubt that he'll be able to build the culture he wants and talking about everybody leaving is more than a little unsettling to say the least. Don't think he calls it quits after a year or two or anything like that but perhaps there will be more struggles than anticipated going forward in this uber competitive league with a ton of other great coaches.

Absolutely agree.

Funny thing is if we saw this tweet without watching the team, we would all be pumped.
Along those same lines, if we performed the same but had 2 drubbings of DePaul/hoyas mixed in I think the tone here would be different. In that case we’d be 7-4, tied for 3rd in conference and we’d be 7-6 in quad 1/2 games. More importantly, I think the teams confidence would be much better. Obviously can’t change the schedule, but kinda sucks.

I don't get the concern with Pitino's comment about the NCAA Enforcement Staff being a paper tiger. Isn't he just stating the obvious? I wasn't even sure they still existed. He is right that schools are going to challenge any penalties and will win in court.

College sports are the wild wild west right now. Political leaders are not interested in messing with the golden goose (the power football schools) and passing governing laws that could negatively impact their ultra popular football teams.

This is what it is. Figure out how to win and consider yourself lucky that you're not in a bottom rung conference.
