Rick Pitino - Head Coach at St John’s University!!!

If 15 & 12 was empty, a lot more guys would do it.

Do I think he was aided by our lack of scorers and rebounders? absolutely.

But there aren’t more than a dozen guys in the entire country who if put in the exact same situation would have produced the same.

I think his numbers might dip a little bit that’s only because 15 & 12 is damn ridiculous and he’ll have more options around but I do think it’s being undersold a bit that we have a 5th year center returning who is capable of averaging those numbers. The BE does have a great stable of bigs though, and I don’t think saying he’s not the best big returning is a slight at Joel.
The inability for most on last years team to shoot threes made it easier to double team Soriano in the post than it should be this year. His cumulative numbers might decrease but not necessarily his efficiency numbers.

Is he much or any smaller than Brownlee or Marvin Clark who both started at center for two of our last 3 ncaa T teams?

I’m not sure Fanta said exactly but to think as it stands he won’t get any minutes there, seems silly with him being the 3rd in line currently.

He’s not a center, but he might be our biggest guy out there with some lineups.
Fanta’s quote about Ledlum’s “huge” impact was “Now Soriano is told, hey man if you’re not playing well you’ll come off the court.” I think that part is crazy. Playing Ledlum over Soriano will not happen!

If Zuby isn’t next up for center then something has gone wrong. Will Ledlum play some minutes at the 5? My guess is probably a small amount since we don’t have a third center.

Hopefully we are well beyond those past teams you mentioned.

I am taking Pitino at his word here. Zuby will play the 4 if Rick goes big and the 5 when Soriano sits. Ledlum will play at the 4. I doubt we see him at the 5 much.

Does anyone know why Zuby didn’t see much time at Kansas? Skill or lack of playing time due to Wilson’s at that position?

Astonishing what Rick has accomplished in short order re; recruiting, ticket sales, scheduling upgrade, TV exposure, PR, media relations & fundraising. We’ll be very competitive this season, likely dance, but more importantly this guy has really strengthened the program “infrastructure” positioning SJ for sustained success.

Zuby willl play the 4 plenty, but he will mostly be the backup 5 this season. It is by its nature the way the roster is. Zuby has plenty more time to become the 4, but he’s the guy behind Soriano period so he will get 10-15 there.
